Ever since the pre-patch hit I’ve been dealing with this dilemma and I need some help.
I used to main Warrior until I switched to Havoc in Legion and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the class fantasy, the transmogs, the movement, the survivability etc. And I want to keep playing my DH. But a lot of my enjoyment has been squashed after the pre-patch hit. The loss of borrowed power and the slew of unnecessary nerfs have left the spec severely gimped. I’m not talking about DPS here, although right now it’s hilariously bad, since numbers are subject to change. Survivability is pretty much non-existent and the flow of the spec is just terrible. It’s bad, but I didn’t realize how bad it was until I tried DK, Warrior and Rogue, none of them even have any azerite powers or essences since I didn’t bother with alts in Battle for Azeroth. So I’ve been stick in this loop where one day I decide to stick my Demon Hunter, the next I decide to go Warrior or Death Knight. Though, the latter seem to be a very popular pick in Shadowlands and I’ve never been big on FOTM classes.
I don’t have Beta access so it’s hard to determine if Demon Hunter gets better at 60. But the legendaries seem particularly terrible. Necrolord covenant ability is probably one of the worst abilities I have ever seen added to this game. Night Fae one also isn’t too great. And the conduits don’t seem to introduce any gameplay changes as all of them are damage increases, in a spec where gameplay already is pretty barebones. I’m also concerned about Momentum becoming the go-to build. If that ever happens I’ll drop this class like it’s hot.
So I’m looking for some advice to help me choose (yes, I know I should play what I enjoy), particularly by people who have access to the Beta. Maybe this post could also help other Demon Hunters stuck on the same conundrum.
Well I just saw a video from Asmongold about SL DPS
In the video is also Tank and Heal on diagramms in the later part.
Warriors are currently screwed DH are even as Tank in the bottom.
DK might be good for you or you try Paladin. I don’t understand though how they put ShadowPriest on the top. Doesn’t make sense to me the favored treatment.
Here you can look at it for yourself too though it’s like 25 min long.
I don’t care about the damage nerfs etc, things will get balanced eventually once we get our full kit/conduits but I really do think we should kick up a fuss about how crappy DH feels to play right now!
I could deal with the simplicity before (though I’d love for there to be more complexity in our rotation) because at least we had flow and it always felt like we had something to do, especially in mythic +. But now, playing the no blade dance auto attack feels like sticking splinters under your fingernails. I got excited for the new glaive tempest ability but it seems like blizzard is hell bent on not making that option viable either. Demon blades has always felt like a godawful talent, I hate anything that requires auto attacks in your rotation to generate spenders.
The fact that first blood is still not baseline too like come on, yet again its a hard set talent line where they give you no choice! Also the coolest thing about being a demon hunter was meta and that’s been put on a longer cool down and doesn’t even feel like a big cooldown anymore, just a little bit extra in damage and survivability, even BM hunters bestial wrath feels like it packs more of a punch and that’s on a significantly shorter cooldown and not even their big damage button.
The one thing that was somewhat fun was unbound chaos but now that’s getting removed. It’s not even the place DH has on the meters its just how they’ve managed to take a class with such a nice flow to it and turned it into this clunky, stilted mess. At the very least they need to make blade dance viable to use again just to spare the pain of auto attacking my way to mediocre dps.
This best dps classes videos are irrelevant, with experience on any spec you can beat top spec in meters if he just reroled and has 0 hours on it he has no chance.
