Hi, I normally don’t write tickets like this but I feel it’s very important to get some help with the latest annoucement about multiboxing. Since Legion I’ve bought 3x expansions and subs and played 3 accounts at once to do world quests and old raids/dungeons for transmorg.
I’ve never used 3rd party software or anything that runs outside the game. I only attack on one character by controlling it within game aka tabbed into that screen. The only help I get with multiboxing is from some in game addons I downloaded from curse and put into my addon folder (no .exe files or anything running on the pc)
I don’t want to buy my 3 accounts anymore stuff if you’re randomly going to threaten me with warnings or bans even when I’m not using 3rd party software. I also hope you will action players who abuse me for people using 3rd party programs when I’m only using in game /follow on 2 characters?
I’ve played the game since the start of TBC I don’t want to risk my account. I know the article says I should be fine if I don’t use 3rd party programs aka isboxer, However I just want to make sure?
Are you fine with my 3 accounts being logged in at once doing solo activity without any 3rd party program? Do I need to worry about false reports? What if 10 people report me because of my 2 characters on follow when I don’t even use 3rd party software? Will I have issues?
I’ve opened up a ticket to get some reassurance before I spend anymore money on my 3 accounts as I’m not playing a game for over a decade to get issues when I’ve followed your rules. The new rule doesn’t really effect me but I want reassurance that I won’t have issues from it by being logged in on 3 accounts.
I’ll close the ticket if I get an answer on here so I don’t clog up the queue system.
There are a few addons that help you follow easier, for example I just found one called “followme” where I can write !follow to my alt and he will follow me. I also have addons that buzz me when my alt comes off follow so I know to click on the other screen and fix it. I find some weird addons that actually work in game but they are from curse and don’t run programs on windows. All done on Blizzard lua addon system, So afaik that’s allowed?
That’s what I get from it too, however I kind of want to know if people reporting me sets off an automatic suspension from playing the game this way. There was already lots of people whispering me saying they reported me over the years even when I was following the rules. It’s going to be worse now. I don’t mind if blizzard bans for detecting isboxer running on my pc however I don’t want to wake up to random suspensions because 2 characters are on follow.
I’ve never had a warning or a ban in the 15 years I’ve played. I just want to be 100% sure that I won’t have to deal with something I don’t deserve.
I don’t think you’ll get a clarification from a Blizzard person as I’ve not known them clarify official dev announcements before.
Personally I can’t see a problem - many years back I levelled 2 characters using ‘follow’. It’s cumbersome and I wish I’d had an add-on to let me know when I’d lost my follower.
It’s possible you may get an automatic ban if you get a lot of reports as I think that’s the way it works now (I have no official word on this, but it seems to be from people who post here) but it should be overturned on appeal.
However, I don’t work for Blizzard so don’t take it as gospel. Imho you should be ok but I don’t think you’ll get anything in writing from Blizz. If you do, it would be really helpful to everyone in your position.
Will hardware input mirroring be allowed (aka old school) with KVM hardware? Like having 5 computers running wow and having KVM connected to them and still use 1 mouse and keyboard?
They where so vague and worded it badly that it’s left people confused on what’s allowed and what isn’t, 90% of the forums think multiboxing is banned because of them and now non 3rd party multiboxers such as myself will have to deal with them.
Also a post got marked as a solution and it wasn’t me who did it. I guess it was a gm. No reply and clarification, Guess I would be better talking to a wall. I’ll just guess the rules as Blizzards one liners aren’t enough information.
They have said this before quite often, Forum staff are not authorized nor qualified to clarify any part of the ToS, or changes to the ToS (someone is always asking for clarification about something).
They should talk to the people who can and make a new statement and be more clear then. I get why random workers can’t. However they can communicate with the people who can.
I’ve also seen gms talk about bannable offences on here before, Even about multiboxing. Telling someone it isn’t against the rules.
I hope you are well today, I’m Game Master **********, sorry for the time it’s taken to get in touch with you and I want to thank you for your patience. I understand you have an issue with your accounts and the recent changes to our policy on Multiple Account use.
You and other players can own, access and play on multiple WoW accounts at the same time, that is allowed within our Terms of Use if done manually.
However the announced changes are that using ‘input broadcasting software’ to do that is now against our Terms of Use and can lead to actions on accounts.
If you are playing on your multiple WoW accounts at the same time manually without using ‘input broadcasting software’ to do that then your gameplay is allowed within the Terms of Use.
Should others report you for your play on multiple accounts we will review those reports and if you are doing that without ‘input broadcasting software’ your accounts should be fine as such play is allowed.
You can get back to playing now and being awesome ingame as usual
Hmmm so that means you can now only multibox by switching windows all the time? This means a serious blow to farmers while casual/RP multiboxers are gonna have to up their game.
Never let it be said that Blizzard never listen. Everyone has been whining about the multiboxers for a while now, and Blizzard finally stepped on their toes.
And of course, people will soon be whining about that…
No, it means you can’t use 3rd party input broadcasting software. There’s a gazillion other ways for multiboxers to continue doing what they’ve been doing so far.
…except that those multiboxers that everyone complain about (the 8-packs of druids farming herbs and moonfiring everything) will still be able to do what they’ve always done. They’ll have to adapt, but not much.
In light of the recent changes on the management policies of input transmission software and established that multiboxing continues to be allowed: I would like to know if the use of these programs will still be allowed only and exclusively to launch clients, log in and reposition and resize windows on monitors.
If it’s done by the same software that broadcasts the keypresses then it will be against the rules.
I think there will be two levels of detection, one will be the software and the other will be the commands being input into the different open clients at the same time.
