I’ve played this game on and off in different expansions, not much but enjoyed casually to play wow. I played mostly PVP in this season, but quite frankly didn’t enjoy it. So I gave PVE a try for the first time, and really enjoyed tanking especially in M+.
Something I have recognized is the amount of toxicity towards tanks/healers but especially towards tanks. It is truly getting out of hands at some points. I even talked to some other wow players that left the tank char to reroll DPS because of the toxic nature in these M+ dungeons. This started to be more clear to me around M+ 5-7.
There are scenarios where I have seen a DPS die 20+ times, do no damage, never avoid aoe dmg, no interrupt, no cc and still have the audacity to complain on the tanking. Do people really believe this is reasonable? You can do 1 misstake as a tank and all hell breaks loose. It’s immature and childish.
For the DPS that actually acts like this in M+ do yourself a favour and stop being toxic because the less tanks and healers there are the harder time it will be for you to find a group.
As new M+ player I really want to share my perspective on this, the only game that had more toxic people is League of Legends and that says a lot. The only reason I would quit WOW is because of this, there is literally no other reason because I do actually enjoy the game.
blizzard made it this way.
humans are mostly dumb and emotional so if you design the game to trigger them, it is the game devs fault because humans will never change.
that you only get 3 crests for a depleto causes toxicity. For the most part people are there for crest and gear.
you still receive gear but no crests…
as rio is a one time thing, most people cba
This is what I see : As a Healer, when I make a mistake someone tells me I made a mistake. Which is fair. Then 2 things can happen.
I can say "oh, good to know thanks ! ". End of story. I learn from that experience and get better in time. And now all I get is GOAT healer coments and stuff like that.
OR, I can say “wahhh toxic people treting me bad instead of a special snowflake”… I learn squat and continue to suck. And then all I get from people is “sucky healer”.
And it happens with tanks because its a super hard season. And tanks just walk in there with their “route” in mind with ZERO consideration of the party they are with. And that is a mistake. For healers its a “nice to have” to look at CDs. But for Tanks its super important to watch everyones CDs.
For example, you have NO IDEA how tired I am of Ara-Kara… Before the 1st boss, tanks pull the 2nd big spider with a massive pack, RIGHT after the 1st one. NOBODY has CDs, I dont have CDs… and of course… 1st AoE wipes everyone.
Like what the hell ? Cant they see im dry of CDs ? I am also healing like crazy. I cant stop and type on /party “stop please !” . Just get a WA, look at CDs and pull the 3rd one first, and THEN get that AoE spider last before engaging the boss for gods sake !
So when i tell the tank to download a weakaura to keep an eye on healer CDs for this purpose (and his OWN survival by the way) they go into a tantrum and call me “toxic” ?
For real ? Like for how much longer do I have to tolerate absolute garbage tanks here ? I cant even tell them something is off with out being gasslighted as “toxic” ?
Joined a necrotic wake to farm crests on my priest.
Tank pulls all this, what’s in the 1st pull there:
DPS is too low so I go oom from doing 1.6 million hps and people start dying.
He later says this when we wipe, to the dps:
MY BROTHER IN CHRIST, YOU ARE PULLING WHEN I HAVE NO MANA AND YOU’RE PULLING LIKE A MANIAC FOR A +9 PUG.
The second pull he did was this, when I had no mana:
The gatekeeper wrecked us because I had no mana.
It’s not the DPS at fault, stop pulling as if you intend to +3 the key. You can’t just pull like that on first pull with complete randoms whom you have no idea of how they will perform. Pull maybe 2 or 3 packs, not all that’s in that pull.
That is the “standard” 1st pull for a 12. Because otherwise you cannot time the key. But its overkill for a 9 and should have split it in 2.
Next time you got crazy tanks like that, consider running to pick up the shiled at the bottom. That kind of helps with the AoE the Gatekeepers do.
Also I have turned drinking in dungeons into an art. When the mobs of the 1st pack are almost dead you start moving towards the next pack. The moment combat drops, you instantly start drinking. Even if your mana bar is not full again, an extra 20% more helps. And if you do this for every pack you can maintain acceptable levels of mana at all times.
Its absolutely not required for 9s, unless you got crazy tanks. Its only required in 12s because if the tank stops and waits you dont time the key.
Dunno. NW packs are no joke. And those gatekeepers are also the DPS’s job to deal with. Those 2 packs, the DDs have to single target focus the Gatekeeper. He has to die before he can get to cast a 2nd AoE.
And then to be honest, the damage of that pack is not so massive if you CC things correctly. But of course, I doubt anyone was doing mechanics right and were getting “throw cleaver” to death.
Last time I healed on my Priest I got cussed at for like 10 lines of chatter by some DPS player who got hit by a big green orb (Ara Kara, last boss, his own orb*), for not dispelling some Poison debuff on him.
I’m still looking for the ability to dispel Poison…
Point is, the worst people tend to have the biggest mouths. Just let them be. Try to re-group with people you did enjoy playing with.
Unfortunately there isn’t much appreciation for tanks at the moment. If it goes well, you’re invisible. If it goes badly, it’s usually your fault somehow. Sad but true
I gave up on chat a long time ago, when I tank I don’t need it. If they want to chatter mid key, they can do it amongst themselves. The ping system is all I need.
had a druid tank in 620 gear that died to a single trash pack in dawn and then flamed me that i dont heal and dont use SLT.
i mean i have a druid tank in 610 gear which basically never need heals in a +7.
He told me 600k hps is garbage and i should delete myself. I mean group took no damage and he died pumping heals into him all day
he was clealry terrible at the game and flames other people for him being garbage.
Just the next run had another tank and we timed the dungeon without deaths.
Meanwhile the tank rage whispered me for 20mins straight that i didnt use SLT to save his behind while he was at 20% hp at every pull xD
it happens from time to time.
why should a tank get more appreciation than others?
tanking is not difficult and just needs practice.
healing is more stress inducing and every run has different dmg patterns while if you tank every run is more or less the same.
dds, well nobody cares. if i have grrat dps i am happy to get a smooth run. if they are garbage we mostly still manage to time it somehow.
i appreciate every good player but we cannot write a book at the end of the dungeon how great they were. besides everyone leaves withing 5 seconds of the end boss dying.
if you play devently it is very rare i think.
if you play terrible i assume you might get flamed a lot more.
so maybe you see it less than others because you dont play like a potato so there is no reason to flame you
just a guess
Blizzard didnt made it this way the community always have that Excuse ‘Blizzard made it this way’ no they dont control your Behaviour i wanna bet if blizzard removed the timer people still would act this way, but ye its easy to say that blizzard are the creators of your Behaviour.
its about the same way as you want to train a hamster too speak.
humans have a certain way to react to things. It is fairly know what happens if you do A it comes out B.
if you keep on implementing A dont expect people change that it becomes C instead of B.
i think you also forget that we have a very mixed audience from small kids, teens young 20s and older folks. then you have lots of character, from nerd to rage lord to stupid to intelligent. You really expect everyone will behave well, especially when there is basically no punishment for misbehavior?
yes it is the people fault in the grand scheme but the ship is steered by blizzard and they could make adjustment
I’m not getting into an argument about which role is hardest, I was speaking from my personal perspective. As a side note, very high keys are extremely scripted healing wise. What you’re describing is babysitting mistakes.
Very high keys are also extremely scripted tanking wise so i dont see your point, also dps wise, ow ye its PvE its always scripted your point is pointless.
yes it is babysitting, but that are keys under 10.
people are not good enough at avoiding dmg.
countless of times i just went oom in the first area of ara kara because people are just terrible at the game.
in high keys healing becomes indeed scripting and besides a few encounters it is more about cd trading rather than actually blasting hps.
healing low to mid keys is the worst experience as healer unless you are lucky and have decent players in your group (1/10 mostly)
I think it is legit cause 99.99% ‘‘healers’’ in this game just suck at WoW. It is insane how bad that role perform and I always end up going back to my disc priest to progress keys lol.
