Trade chat

Did i miss anythis in this game or is trade chat only used for selling boosts ? I just finished exiles reach and i walk into Orgrimar and there is just a non stop posts about people selling boosts and carries . Do people even play this game , are there non mythic guilds in this game ? Do i have to buy a bost to be able to get a gear to start to play a game ?

It’s totally “fine” because :

  • you can use an addon to remove the trade chat spam !!!
  • blizz don’t have enough devs to manage problems like this
  • people usually just socialize on guild chat
  • boosts are not against blizz rules

There are plenty of non-mythic guilds that play the game. Depending on your realm of course. You can check raider.io or wowprogress.com to see some of them. I’d look at guilds that are less than 6/10 mythic currently for a pretty casual place that can clear heroic. Or just guilds that are 10/10hc.

Some people use addons to filter out the boost spam. Haven’t tried it myself. Typically trade chat consists of spam either way, or the same old jokes from 15 years ago.

Trade chat is where trades are made, boosts are trades, a players gold for other more skilled players time and effort. Guild advertisments are not trades. Advertising is prolific so most leave the channel, hide it in another tab or just use an addon to filter it. However only others with similar addons will be able to see trade the way you do.

If you want to find a guild you can look on your realm forums, recruitment forum, the guild finder, wowprogress, discords, general chat in cities, raider io, warcraftlogs etc.

I don’t think boosts are ok in a game where you can buy gold and use that gold to get gear and power then . Sound a lot like paying to win and that is ok by blizzard ? I’ve seen so far so many lvl1s advertising and yelling in orgrimar . It is really weird for an MMORPG that first thing you walk in your main city and you get this thing and it is ok ? Kinda breaks the immersion really . As i have seen you can buy gold from blizzard now with that token on AH ?

Even if Blizzard were to remove boosts the spam will stay. It’ll be whatever BiS raid BoE or tradeable mount that is relevant that over 50% of players can’t afford without a token.

What do you exactly “win”?

You cant buy skill, even if you max i lvl in current content, lower geared but skilled players wash the floor with you. So i fail to see the p2w element in this.

I don’t see any winning here. Since those things are the outcome of the game, what’s the point in playing if you don’t do it for a specific goal? From my perspective this game is not pay to win, because people who buy boosts are losing. They get to stand in Orgrimmar and flash their… their what? Their curve? Who cares?

I do . Like anything if i do smt and put my work into it and then somebody just buys it my work feels like less worth it .

when i started to play wow first thing they learned me was never trade for stuff what cant be placed in trade window becourse it is easyest way to get scammed …

oh you so wrong you even doesn’t know how
this problem solves in extremely short terms by only one dev from team
access to any chatting by phone confirm
all after that - isn’t a dev task but the support team work with reports on spam

The trade chat is indeed in a sad state because it is there I have found most of my customers for my crafting professions.

I like what FF14 did. Boosting for in-game currency is allowed, in-game advertising is not.

No-one posts in our trade chat. Not even for boosts.

So do you make your own bread? I mean I personally buy mine from a bakery, somebody else put in the hard work and I then just buy it.

I understand you may not like boosts in game, lots of people don’t, but in the end it is just that, you disliking it. A lot of people will agree with you, a lot won’t, it’s the nature of the forums, people agree or disagree

Used to be more civilized and social.

Forgot which word that was used before linking Dirge, and other stuff.

There is difference beetwen AH buying ,on what you are gonna imply soon, and boosting. As you can’t have all profession on one character and yes you can have alts and yes as i can see professions are not that strong as they once were , but if you play only one character you can trade with other people for goods you need to help you progress in game . And that is they key word , progress . When you buy boost you don’t progress , you buy the final destination you are ment to come by playing the game . And is that healty for the game ? I started the game and i am greeted with chat that is only filled with selling boosts and carries , is that really healty ? If boosting is so easy to get why would then people try to get into guilds and try to achive that with their own skill ? In dota for example you can clearly see who bought an account with their skill and they will lose their rank bcs they can’t play on that rank to keep it . Here as I can understand , you can buy end game carry , get gear , titles , mounts , and it is sold for gold and you can buy gold from AH , so if you buy a carry you get to keep it ? How is that fair to someone who is playing the game and trying to achive those end game results in a fair way ? I am more comming from other multiplayer games where this action is gonna get punished in some way down the line , here as i can understand it is ok by game devs ?

I will give you the most truthful answer I can. Is it okay by the Devs? I don’t know any Dev’s so can’t ask them the question. Is it okay by Blizzard, yes definitely so because they earn large profit from it.

I can see your point Razala, if you are new to the game as you say you are, you would not be aware of the long and frequent debates that have gone on in the forums. It isn’t really a matter of whether I agree with you or disagree, it’s the fact that Blizzard won’t change it.
People buy tokens, this can be used for in game gold to buy boosts, Tokens = profit for Blizzard. They are not going to give up on this nice profit margin.

Now like you have indicated it’s a pain in the chat, if you decide to continue to play there are add-ons that can help, Badboy is one people often recommend, I personally just leave Trade Chat on my characters so I don’t have to see the continual spam.

I know this isn’t the debate you probably want, but to be fair these debates go on a long time and nothing ever changes other than forumers getting annoyed with each other.

I hope you enjoy the game though, there are some great aspects to WoW that I think you may like
