Traits expensive as hell

i figured out after a research that traits can cost over 100 k g if you never stop change them ??? 100 k to change traits? why dont put talent tiers in cost also??? 5, 10 and 20 g fine, but 100 k ??? nice to know traits will be gone in future.

To keep people from changing traits 24/7 or to y’know keep multiple sets/pieces for various situations.

It used to be worse at launch, 50k was reached by a fair few early on.

Yeah its silly, not sure why they thought it was a good idea :woman_shrugging:t3:

Same reason they thought Essences and Corruption was a good idea, testing out things to know what the playerbase will let fly and what we’ll flay the devs for.

Don’t worry, in SL there won’t be any cost, instead there’ll be a 1 week cooldown.

Who changes traits that much?

At the start of the expac you specialise and if you don’t then you aren’t pushing content where it matters. Now, you should have multiple azerite so it doesn’t matter.

So, so what?

did not know about the increasing cost before my break. its always the gold they want lol

If you keep going you can get to the point where you literally can’t respec your traits because it will cost like 10million+

Pretty sure it caps out at 50k gold, and nevertheless the cost half every 3 days, so 50k will be halved to 25k, to 12.5k etc and then back to 5 gold in due time

you know nothing of respeccing! i have seen the elusive 500k+

500k then, but it does cap at some point xD i know that much . Used to switch between outlaw and sin for mythics and raids , I stopped doing that after a while and just went with outlaw for everything, but was up at 40k Gold per change at some point

it will only stop increasing when you stop respeccing, it will continue to incrase so long as you respec enough, like if you are a form of hybrid and need to for completely different roles.

I recommend levelling a class for each spec and another for any times you want the same spec but different traits. Plus a pretty one for each spec that can stand around in Boralus looking pretty. And, maybe another of a single spec you like the most. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s easy to say that as a raider where you have amazing azerite pieces rain down on you like candy.

But the rest of us have to resort to the residuum vendor, where 80% of the options are crap, unusable pieces thanks to rubbish traits. It takes about 10 weeks to guarantee a single piece if you complete a +15 every week (which, I’m sure you’re aware, is the highest officially-incentivised level). So that’s 30 weeks, or 7-8 months, to acquire a single, good iLvl azerite set.

Unless you’re a raider, it’s impractical to have multiple, equal iLvl sets.

I wouldn’t say it rains on you like candy. If you are aiming for the highest realistically obtainable azerites and your guild isn’t on the level to kill the “tougher” bosses of the raid (Ra’den, Il’gynoth, Vexiona, Carapace) then as a raider you are reliant on the residuum vendor as well in order to get top ilvl azerites. I am of course talking about mythic quality here, since heroic should be readily accessible for those who aren’t frequenting raids that often.

For reference there is only a single Azerite that drops for plate wearers from the early bosses (Skitra,) A single one for mail wearers (Maut,) One for Leather wearers (Maut) and a single one for cloth wearers (Skitra.)

Those who do not raid mythic are also reliant on residuum.“It’s easy to say that as a mythic raider.” would be closer to the truth.

It does not rain on you like candy even if you do clear mythic raids for max ilvl azerite. First off you would need it to drop once. Then you would trade it if it drops again and someone else needs it to help your team. So you wont just be sitting there with 3 carapace mythic chests any time soon. It is just as big a time investment as gambling azerite pieces. I was just as reliant on residuum gambling btw.

Now you already have good items for fire so whats stopping you from buying even if suboptimal-azerite to offspecs or clear heroic which is very easy to do and just use 460 pieces.
I used 460 items for boomie for ages before i got good pieces months later. Bear traits are still suboptimal.

Or just dont swap azerite traits and specs 10 times a day.

Edit: ofc i agree that the system is stupid and i did complain about it for months but you have to adapt to what you have.

it keeps going without any ceiling, doubling every time you respec.

so its 5 -10 - 20 - 40 - 80 etc…
eventually you are reaching absurd amounts such as 655 360 -> 1 310 720 -> 2 621 440 -> 5 242 880. And the last number is the cap, as next increment would be above 10 million, you simply cannot carry that much gold with you.

Most players won’t even reach 4-digit amounts but the sheer fact with having no cap at all is just dumb. Even in Vanilla WoW talent respec cost was capped.

I remember when they said if anything they wanted to make it even worse to almost entirely stop people changing traits.
Such a dumb design.

Not true at all, my monk doesn’t raid (well, went to a run or 2 late tier if you want to be pedantic) and has sets for every spec, and decently optimised as well. You’re issue is you’re factoring every piece as a 20k specific piece which isn’t really how people do it for the most part.
