Transfer money to same account characters to other server

I recently made some Horde characters on another server which is very sparsely populated and items on its AH are either non existent or at 3x-5x-10x the price of my server.

I was trying to think of simple or ingenious ways to transfer items to those new characters, after all they are still on the same account.

You can already move items marked as “binds to blizzard account”. But you cannot move money or other items, especially since the new characters are Horde.

The AH are different between the two servers and I presume they are different across all servers ? Os is there a link/links ?

Is there any way to transfer money/items to my Horde characters on another server? Without paid character or guild transfer ?

@Zillimiss: As Dejarous correctly noted, pets are the easiest way as they are account wide. Just cage something you do not need and sell it on your new realm.

Connected realms share AHs, but different servers do not.

To go further on the pets thing there’s an addon called AutoCage that will cage all your duplicate pets to make it easier, adds a button to your pet ui where you can cage them all

Thanks for the pets suggestion. Having thought about it a bit more, this technique does not allow fresh money to be moved into the “empty” server. Any pets that I manage to sell will be paid for by money already on that server. I do not know how Blizzard has merged servers and AHs but having consumables prices (and everything else) being at 3X-10X means that they have not merged properly.

@Zillimiss: Each server (regardless of whether it is a stand alone one or consisting of multiple connected realms) has an economy of its’ own. Even stand alone ones do not have identical pricing as population balances and activity levels vary, in some cases by a lot.

You’d think the purpose of merging servers is to balance the populations? Are there any stats about the which servers are merged and what the total populations are across the groups?

@Zillimiss:

That is the relevant thread from the old forum.

As for the balance… Well, way back in 2013 (yes, it has been THAT long since original program ended)… Most PvE realms were heavily alliance biased, most PvP realms were heavily horde biased. As far as we outsiders could tell, Blizzard ran the program more from a view point of making the smaller faction at least somewhat viable. Server internal faction balance (apparently) was not a primary concern… and in a few specific cases, they actually did not have options due to various concerns.

If you are interested only in totals, RealmPoP can help you. As for actual activity… There are only limited records on Warcraftrealms, many servers are very poorly covered (as there are nowhere near enough large CensusPlus users, Padanfain, myself, Balgair, FuxieDK, Piratejenny and about a dozen others simply is not enough for proper coverage of 986 factions spread over 220+ remaining servers in the US and EU).

EDIT: Quack, the link failed… I will need to do a manual copy, sorry, moment!

If you have a WoD garrison with the shipyard, you can make a throwaway DH on your new faction server and send them the BoA leather tokens you can get. They can be sent cross faction and once opened sell for a few gold, thus generating new gold. The DH can get a garrison too so you can get mission table gear to vendor too.
It’s a slow process, but doesn’t take many minutes every day.

(Also, with tailoring on the dh you can get yourself bags without having to buy from ah)

You can also buy a few tokens with gold, use it for battle net cash and buy New tokens on your New server.

You only keep 2/3 of your initial amount, so use it as a last resort.

Pets obviously, I bought a pet for 14k on Argent Dawn, sold it for 40k on some big realm and bought a few mogs that would cost me near 200k on Argent Dawn.

Unfortunately, on a thinly populated server, there will be very few, if any pet buyers.

I do not understand what you mean?

OK, but on my server, which is not listed, I observe and count players from 4-8 different servers - they call it sharding, or whatever. I think they make it so an area of the map seems to have enough players to feel like am MMO.

If we consider this sharding, LFG, LFR and Premades, I wonder why the AH must be separate, it would be great if there was just one.

@Zillimiss: Silvermoon is the highest activity alliance server in EU and therefore was completely unviable for connecting with anything. Sharding, CRZ (cross realms zones) and connected realms are three separate concepts.

The population aspect not withstanding, AHs and banks actually suffer from lag on big servers as was especially noted again during BfA launch on Silvermoon, Draenor and handful of other very busy realms. With player numbers as high they are, having only one AH for a region is completely unfeasible concept for the time being. How things looks in the future, we will see in a few years…

Which is the lower population realm? I have characters, items and gold on quite a few and might be willing to swap.

I wouldn’t buy tokens, most people don’t have enough gold for them anyway. Low pop realms aren’t usually good for selling pets, make a character first and go and check it out the AH and more importantly see what pets sell.

I don’t think I have enough bag space for that, so a new realm player might have problems.

I am sorry to disagree on this, it is 2019 and there are plenty of organisations holding data and servicing millions of customers online, and there are plenty of databases or custom systems that can perform millions of transactions per second, eg stock exchanges, or even retail bank account servicing or email systems, auctions etc - all running in datacentres with redundancy and failover and these systems have been around for decades now.

I’m really confused about this, it really seems like no one buys them like they used to before.
Mind you, I’m doing this in between 2 high pop realms (Draenor/Argentdawn)
Some pet are still there since i transfer, almost 3 months ago.

Bad luck or am Ii doing something wrong ?

Dunno, I’ve never done it. He just asked for a mechanic to move money and this is one.

@Zillimiss: I am going to leave the details to those who have more expertise on this topic… but my understanding is that at least part of the problem is at the PLAYER end of the equation. Running a scan on an insanely big AH is time consuming.

How about a WoW token? I have never bought one so do not know how it works
