I recently bought game time due to an interest in playing some Cataclysm classic. I previously played with a group of friends during the first phase of WotLK on Earthshaker.
My friend and I now started new characters on the same realm for Cataclysm only to quickly realise that there were next to no people on the server. The only people we saw told us the server was “dead” and that you could transfer your characters to another server for free.
This seemed like the logical solution so we naively (without doing any research) transferred our characters to one of the suggested servers.
The problem is that the server we transferred to (Gehennas) is full of players except all of those players are Horde. Me and my friend have Alliance characters which is nearly as empty as the server we left.
If you can’t keep server populations under control there must be free transfers between all realms. I definitely won’t be paying to have my characters moved to the only server (Firemaw) with active players of my faction and I’m not playing on a dead server.
