Transfers from SoM to Era when?

That would indeed be a smart move (a reason why I suspect Blizz to not do this ). Not as much chaos as the delete a server business and as you say the names-problem is solved.
I read something long ago about deleting the SoM servers, but I do not want to go looking + Blizz can have changed their mind since, or just deleted this

Reading this post it sounds like the SoM servers will be discontinued and characters moved to either Era or Wrath:

Hello.

Season of Mastery has always been planned to run for about one year, and we do not intend to cut Season of Mastery short.

While we don’t yet have an exact date for SoM characters to move to either Classic Era or Wrath Classic realms, we expect that to be about 11-13 months after Season of Mastery began.
