Is it just me or is anyone else finding that flying from a zone to another takes ages? Not from Oribos to a zone but as in from something like Revendreth to Ardenweald. It takes you through that electric rift thingy and then in Oribos the mount slows down and you have to go through another electric rift thingy, it’s just soo slow.
I agree, I don’t get it as well that why flight paths aren’t more direct.
Because Oribos is the anchor point through which any of the separate realms of the Shadowlands can be reached. It doesnt make sense to be able to travel directly from one realm to another.
Blizzard design document indicates that travel time = content. Why else do they slow travel time to a crawl? Because the more time you spent getting there, the less they have to spend on making meaningful content once you get there.
I agree with that but like atleast if they wouldn’t slow the mount down when reaching Oribos it would make some sort of difference.
Travel time = sense of the world and immersion. RPGs are not about constant gameplay and combat. Sorry but if you dont like this rype of aspects you simply dont like rpg games.
I personally want to know how flying is going to work when we finally unlock it. Will we have to fly from say Ardenweald to Oribos to Maldraxxus. Or can we fly direct to a zone, worse case I think would be having to use a flight master to a zone and only have the ability to fly in that area.
A walking simulator does not the RPG make. You get the sense of the world the first time you visit the place. The next 200 times however it becomes a chore if you have to walk there. That’s why every RPG out there worth their grain of salt have some sort of system in place to travel faster to a location you’ve already visited. Even Runescape - a browser based MMORPG - has a loadstone system. Skyrim, Oblivion, Fallout, The outer worlds, The witcher etc. I could mention a lot more RPG games if you’d like. The point being though, once you’ve explored the area once, you get to fast-travel to that location.
So why does WoW insist on slowing things down to a crawl? And don’t give me that immersion bull, all other RPGs have massive immersion as well, with a fast travelling system in place.
Oribos is like old Dalaran for legion
you can run around it, and thinking
what can i do
So far when questing its not an issue. But i can imagine once you are doing mythics or world quests in a row it can get tiring to fly that much
It is exactly that, on the contrary during questing I actually liked it because it was a first experience and it does look pretty cool. But now doing mythics is like a journey to get from one dungeon to another.
Yeah m8 ! You can actually start the flight from Rivendreth to Bation, cancel the wow subscription and make a new one upon the arrival :)) it literally takes ages.
I like the new expansion … but this is just awful and makes things horrible. It’s a HUGE thumbs down from me. I guess I’ll stop doing world quests as soon as I don’t need the anima or the low lvl gear from those.
Working as intended, along with the “no mount” in the Maw or “no whistle anywhere”.
Im sure I will get sick of it but right now im enjoying the views when taking flight paths
But you’re not wrong
I took a flight path, didn’t move for like 2 mins because I was eating a packet of crisps, and it said I was afk
