Trial accounts in RP

I think trial account roleplayers shouldn’t be allowed to rp in game. I am aware it is rather impossible to implement but those players are “troublesome”

95% of those players hold the stinky Whisper me to RP. Open for anything. kind of message in their OOC window. Not to mention that if you don’t have time or energy to invest into your character you are simply not worth of roleplaying with

people using tiral accounts to RP look as if they are doing it simply to avoid ban on their main accounts

They aren’t RPing. They’re ERPing. That’s what the whole “whisper me to rp, open for anything is there for”.

yeah and it shouldn’t be allowed. i hate the moderation team here

I think all addons should be disabled on trial accounts personally.

very good idea but i am not sure if it will be ever added

Probably not, but always good to suggest it.

i challange you all to visit the harbor or lion’s rest at late night/early morning hours and see what creeps around the streets

we got into the moment where sickos are allowed to RP less than 18y old characters, having their TRP describe how provoking their outfit is. i was once approached by a “appreantly” 14 years old teen and her actions easily made me drop the game for a few days

I’ve already seen enough there, thank you very much.

Thing is, I believe we’ve asked the TRP3 creators why addons cant be taken from trials, and I do not remember the exact answer, but it was both a mixture of it being difficult to do aswell as them not wishing to strike the few good trial rp’ers or something.

It’s a shame that trials have such a bad - but honestly not underservered - reputation. There’s a fair few uses you can have for trial accounts as an RPer, for example a Hand of Cenarius member who had four or five different level 20 tauren TRPs to DM an event with - using those instead of Dicemaster Frames or world markers. It was a super immersive experience but it was really fun to see. That same individual did the same with some trial accounts, a Hallow’s End gnoll wand and a whole bunch of prism swapping as well, all very cool to see.

That being said, 99% of the time if you see a trial character it’s best to just steer clear. The only one I’ve ever seen people interacting with is a worgen courier in Stormwind which doesn’t seem to have many immediate red flags, and I’m hoping that I’m not about to be shown screenshots to the contrary. Let me place faith in one person on this server, please ;_;

Beyond that though, it’s almost always characters with a list. And those lists aren’t ever worth clicking on, and people with those lists aren’t ever worth interacting with.

Pretty much that and; “well, the ERPers can then make their own addon”

I’m not asking the addon creators to not allow trials to use the addons, I think Blizz should do something then it’ll curb SOME of the more flippant ERPers.

even if the roleplayer is good, i see literally 0 reasons why one should prefer to RP as a trial

edit: alright, for example holding it for an NPC role for your guild

but the problem is some people tend to use it as a main way to rp

I think the main reason if there was ever a legitimate one is people not wanting to give money to Blizzard for whatever reason. Maybe there’s some financial concerns too, but generally I think a majority of people are able to pay for a monthly sub, and those who aren’t generally aren’t playing Warcraft to spend their evenings. Maybe I’m wrong there.

there are some big voices on the internet preaching that WoW should be free to play

i think it would make the corpse this game is even more dead

Hah… people complain how its; “pay to win” already.

They have not SEEN PTW models and that’s how WoW will go if it becomes FTP.

I can’t speak too definitively on that, I’m no financial expert or anything, but if you cut away the sub money, then that money needs to come through somewhere else, and I don’t think there’s anything that could equal or surpass the current income that subscriptions are making. Sure, more butts in the seats means more cosmetics to sell to people, but are that many people really buying the sprite darter set and such?

I couldn’t see Blizzard doing it, especially not with Hearthstone now getting it’s own version of Riot Points where they’re probably gonna do the whole “oh, you want this thing? well it’s 2000 points. BUT if you want to spend 2000 points, you have to buy either the 1800 point package, OR the 3500 one.”

I think not letting trial accounts create characters on RP realms would be the better solution, if Blizzard were to do something about it. Non-RP players who are on a trial might want to use addons. Most RP isn’t going to work with the chat restrictions, anyways.

Then they can pay a month’s sub to use addons.

either prohibit them from creating characters on all worlds or none

The trial still has its place as a way for someone who doesn’t want to pay a sub yet to try out the game. Restricting access to RP realms seems like the better way to go than restricting addons, in my opinion.

Well, in my opinion, there is nothing you need addons for in the 1st 20 levels of the game (which is what the trial goes up to)
