Yeah but the blue shirt comparison isn’t the same thing at all.
The reason people use trial accounts for ERP is because they can’t be traced back to their main accounts, they can be set up for free so there’s no monetary investment and if they do get banned (which never seems to be the case) then there’s nothing to stop them from just immediately making another trial accoutn and doing the exact same thing.
The reason why restricting trials would work in lessening the amount of Goldshire noncense is because then people would have to pay for a subscription in order to do their ERP, and thus make it inherently more risky to do that stuff if they were to get banned… which again, is unlikely to happen unfortunately, but that’s the general idea. Ban players doing this stuff, if they want to be repeat offenders then they have to pay more money to Blizz just to have a chance of doing the same thing.
Also this is assuming that Blizzard can’t just blacklist a paypal account or credit card number, or use that information to ban repeat offenders. I’m not sure if that can be done but it’d be a quick way to identify people making new accounts.
