Big news bros, looks like trial accounts are having changes made to them with the numbers of whispers being sent being severely limited
Could this be the change people have been asking for with regards to AD’s problems with trial account cyberers? Limiting whispers sounds like it would be a big factor in this

I’ve never met anyone doing legitimate RP on a trial character.
A smart change with really no negatives.
There’s a very small, teeny-tiny, itty-bitty voice in my head that’s making me consider if any of the trial accounts I’ve seen walking around Stormwind now and again are regular roleplayers who just can’t currently afford their WoW sub for whatever reason.
But then I remember how many of those trial accounts used very sexualized language and were generally inappropriate and the aforementioned voice grows silent.
So if this does go through, it could affect the niche situation of someone not able to afford their WoW sub no longer being able to RP, but that situation is so niche that I don’t think I’ve ever seen it.

I hope the limit is restricting enough for them to be unable to just go around this by typing a bit slower and waiting between their replies. If this is anything like the limit we have on trade chat, it is too little.
There’s one issue I see with this, though… what about legitimate players who want to get into the game and are levelling 1-20 with a friend to see how they like it? If they cannot communicate with a friend in whispers/party, then it is going to be really bad for them I feel.
Would making trials unable to roll RP realms not be a better option there?
Ideally if one plays with a friend probably they can hook up on other ways or go on Voice by how I see it.
Then again I’d also prevent trial accounts to post on the forums.

However, that issue also stands with ERPers and inappropriate content. Unfortunately there’s still little stopping a trial account from putting an f-list and a “DM on discord erpfreak#0666” in their TRP description.
Considering TRP rule enforcement has been partially taken over by Blizzard it would be interesting to see whether restrictions could be expanded there. Enforcement is moot because trials are still bullets-of-a-pile for an ERPer to get banned & switch to another.

Think it’s still a step in the right direction by Blizzard’s side because it’s actively adding extra steps for the deplorables to get their rocks off.
Big difference in /w name and alt-tabbing, going to discord, adding some stranger, waiting for them to accept the friend request etc.
And ultimately it’s taking them off the platform which is a big win regardless.
