Trial character logged without any warning!

During BFA I had some trial characters I used mostly to unlock transmogs cross-faction.

Now with the pre-patch, all of these trial characters have been locked, completely unprompted, without any prior warning, blue post, patch notes mention, anything.

Supposedly the trial lasts 3 hours or so, but I haven’t played close to this amount with them, and I find it completely unfair to take away all the items they have in their inventories unless I pay real-life money.

Please tell me there is at least a solution to send all the stuff they have to another character.

sounds like something you have to take up with the support, i doubt anyone here on the forums can help you a lot.

good luck.

Trial characters are there to… trial the character. I don’t understand what you’ve been using them for. If you equip items to unlock transmog they become soulbound so there’s nothing in their inventory to send back.

What items are you trying to mail? AFAIK you can’t even mail or trade with them…

You could trade with them and you could mail then you just couldnt do raids or dungeons or current content.

I thought Blizzard made a comment about this use last year or so? That it wasn’t the purpose of these characters, and blocked it?

I just have a vague memory of it, and no source though.

Hasnt been updated yet but gives the general idea was last “updated” 2 months ago .

I had one for the unlocking of locked boxes.
A shame I can’t do that anymore.

Basically I mailed all my BoE “Mail” items to a trial hunter, but of course I couldn’t equip the BFA ones. Those were still sitting in his bag, I guess I should have sent them back to my mains, but it waaa safe “bank” for them for over 2 expansions, so it doesn’t make sense to take it away without warning

ouchie. if any valuable mail exists maybe worth buying a token>boost xD

You used it at your own risk. Trial characters are not meant to be extra storage space. If you had them for years, it makes sense that they would eventually get locked.

I did use it at my own risk, but there was zero indication that this was a risk. Why would it “makse sense” for Blizzard to change the lock condition without telling in advance?

So far the only limit was the 3-hour mark, not even a new expansion caused them to get locked (8.0 didn’t lock them).

It was kind of a sh-tty thing to do without warning. I had a few trial characters to unlock mogs and a rogue lock picker but I guessed they might just vanish or lock up at any minute so I never kept anything valuable on them so I didn’t lose anything.

Still, Blizz could have warned players. They knew what everyone was up to and didn’t seem to care about it for years. It was harmless.

Warning players would only have been a positive thing instead they chose to go the other way and now they’ll have a bunch of pissed off players who lost stuff who will probably try contacting them, wasting everyone’s time and goodwill and for what?

I have some bad news for you…I have a boost that used to be 110 that became a lvl 48 boost. I have a trial toon before the pre-patch that I was going to boost at some point but it won’t let me. It says I need to log into that toon and then log out and try again. Issue is same as yourself it will not let me login on the toon that is trial.

Well, at least it seems like it’s not Blizzard’s intentional greed but rather some huge oversight.

nevermind it resolved one issue but the underlyin issue remains and the boost can not even be used. Blizzard rep even said still no ETA on resolution better to just make a new toon if you want to boost. xD
