Was doing a dungeon, and suddenly when I tried to cast tricks on my tank (was on focus target, so used a macro) I got the error text "Invalid target".
Thought it was a bug and just restarted my game, but the same error kept coming, and now I can't even use the ability, normal target, focus target, without macro, with macro.
It was working fine, and suddenly it stopped working. Haven't encountered anyone else with this problem, so hope someone here can help me.
Same problem, but I could use it on anyone EXCEPT the tank.

I've noticed in some dungeons that my Details! addon picks up certain members of the party of being from the opposite faction, so it could be some weird issue with that?
Not sure if they still work at BfA level, but could this be Neural Silencer at work...?
I get that it seems to be a Tank/TotT issue, but something tells me I had a similar issue, a good while back when my Hunter tried to Misdirect to a Tank, too.
I'm pretty sure Neural Silencer - as well intentioned as it was designed - causes more harm that it does good.

Wow, didn't even think of that. But when you mentioned it, I had that buff.
Gonna remove it when I get home and reply here to see if it works without it.
Thanks for the replies!

It does not matter if you have the buff or not, it's the target of your Tricks - in this case: the tank - that is important. A lot of tanks use the silencer in randoms to prtotect themselves from abusive rogues/hunters/priests who think it's funny to pull for them.
With the reduction of threat, having tricks on the pull can really be a nice addition to any dungeon-run, but if the tank does not want to remove it because he had bad experiences, there is nothing you can do.
Blizzard gave them the option to disable these abilities if they so wish....and if they use the item that is just what they are going to do.
If the Neural Silencer is to blame, it would be nice with an error message that says as much rather than just 'Invalid Target'.
Had the same problem. If I had an active silencer on myself, I couldn't use tricks on others.
The silencer has worked that way in Legion too. If you had it activ, you could not use Tricks at all. Because it puts the same buff on you, which is not possible with the silencer.
The error message is happening even without the silencer on
Same here. It happens even without silencer.
I can confirm that when I took the Neural Silencer off my tricks of the trade macro started working after having the same error for a long time, here is my macro in case anyone would like to use it. In dungeons I set the tank as my focus target and click it before fights.

I still have this error. Did anyone figured it out?
I had the same error on a freshly made character. I ran from spawn to target dummy "Goblins start zone" and got Invalid Target. Nothing worked so I had to delete and remake character.
Also had the error on my lvl 60 ALT today, which scared me !@#$less.. Thank god a quick game restart worked that time..

Hey guys,
thanks for the report on this, please use the Reporting a Bug feature on this one as it do sounds like a possible bug, not a tech issue that we would be able to assist.
