Everybody hates running into this wall of valor shortage again and again. I honestly don’t see the point of it. The only thing it does is cause frusteration.
If you refuse to get rid of this arbitrary currency, then atleast make open world content a worthwhile option to aquire it.
Give us the option to grind it solo in our own time.
Before crests m+ had Valor, a finite resource that players were conditioned to hoard until they got the perfect item they wanted to upgrade.
When we moved to crests that changed, and it became pretty acceptable / intelligent to upgrade items immediately whenever you got them. The low Valorstones cap was intended as a way to nudge players to spend their crests instead of hoarding them as they had previously done with Valor.
It’s served it’s purpose at this point though. Everyone either knows how crests work compared to Valor or wasn’t here to have learned the old way anyway.
As for acquiring Valor. Bountiful delves (Including the radiant echoes) give about 110 per run, even on T1.
Honestly they could just have crests. Not sure why they have two required currencies to upgrade an item. Make it the same as now tho where its free or reduced cost to catch an item up. Also the item from fated season you can upgrade to cap would be awesome to. No reason to have to effectively farm an item four times
do you honestly find it acceptable to farm delves for 110 valor each ? what if you play multiple characters ? , if you farm bountifuls for valor, even on level 1 (which is also limited per day) it would end up in such a significant part of your time playing. no matter how easy it is, the amount rewarded is not in contrast with the time you’d put into it. it just becomes incredibly tedious, boring, autopilot content that would lead people away from the game. eveyone would come to the conclusion that ‘‘no, this is not worth my time’’. if i could check the map to see a world quest that rewards me 250 valor stones i’d be like ‘‘heck yeah, lets go do that one’’, and i think alot of people would feel the same.
I don’t personally think they serve a purpose anymore. I just wanted to make people aware of a lucrative method to acquire them they may not have been aware of.
I never liked crests and valor stones, id much prefer to just have gear drop at set item levels instead of this upgrade system. Its clearly designed with the sole purpose to keep player retention throughout the duration of seasons, through mindnumbing grinds prolonged by artificial barriers.
I dont care if it only takes me 1-2 months to get geared, i dont need a grindy upgrade system to keep me interested for the remainder of the season, i got plenty of other stuff to do in game.
The result of that currently would be people having less ilvl, since the main function of the crest system is to offer players the ability to upgrade the items they have beyond the ilvl of the content they drop from.
All those 619 champion pieces you’re wearing wouldn’t be 619, they’d be 606…
It’d just be 606 from normal, 619 from heroic, 632 from mythic, and mythic end boss 639. Same intervals as it used to be.
And I would be perfectly fine with it being 606, assuming ofcourse that the game was balanced arround the gear not being upgradable. I dont strive for having the absolute best gear in the game, if i did, i wouldnt be getting my gear from delves, i would be pushing keys and mythic raiding. Gear has existed for years without crests and valor stones, and it was never an issue. This is a artificial solution for a artificial problem.
The real problem is Blizzard worry people will unsub 2 months into the season, so they create systems like this in a attempt to keep people subbed, because its cheaper and easier than keeping peoples interest through meaningful content.
I have a ton of crests on my alts but barely any valorstone and I don’t care all that much about alts so they just are there to rot and help me farm Timewalking ^^
