With the huge amount of mounts available these days, it’s naturally gotten kind of rare to see people on their racial mounts. I guess the fact they don’t fly doesn’t help
Even so, I still see tauren on kodos, sometimes undead/orcs on skeletal horses/wolves, humans on horses and dwarves on goats even. I see pretty much all the racial mounts used by their respective player races at least a few times a week (even noems on mechanostriders), except for… trolls on raptors.
I recall some mentioning getting mild motion sickness from them, but is that a common problem? Also heard someone just found them “annoyingly bouncy” once. Curious what troll mains’ reasons for not using the racial mount is, if there are any. Personally if I had a troll character I wouldn’t be raptor fan either, though that’s because I think the horn on their nose just looks too ridiculous.

Troll raptors are my favourite out of all the racial mounts, Along with Night elf cats.

I always liked the Raptors lol, I guess in answer to your question, I think for me mainly why I don’t use the racial mounts when playing is that they don’t fly. Now in SL of course there is the fact that nobody could fly in the beginning, again I didn’t use the racial as I tend to use a two-person mount mainly because I play with my sister and she is a lazy driver
Edit: My favourite raptor was the one you got from Ungoro Crater, the quest line, can’t remember the name of the mount now

My favorite is the Night Elf cats, they make me think of Battle Cat.

Venomhide Ravensaur or somesuch?
I really like the golden one, the Dawnsaber? The cat mount models are good overall, but don’t really fit my characters mostly.

I also really like the golden one. We must meet and ride together!

Yes that’s the one, lovely looking Raptor
To be fair I like most racial mounts, I just don’t think they are always practical, I tend to always have my ‘go to’ mounts and these are normally flying mounts, or two person mounts (flying and ground mounts).
Edit: I also kept as a go to mount
https://www.wowhead.com/item=64883/scepter-of-azjaqir,
but this was purely to show off, I never did get the Vial of the Sands recipe so this was like my little, haha well I got this instead

There aren’t many with a nice new model.
I just wish they’d update all the Minecraft old models in this game. As someone who generally prefers Classic, I think Retail should move forward and if someone wants the old clunky-but-cute graphics from 2004 then they can play the former.

Usually the only thing wrong about the troll raptors is the troll riding them.
I don’t like raptors, just don’t like them. Doesn’t help that many of the “newer” ones are terrible, like the Isle of Giants ones. I like the look of the Zul’Gurub raptors as a piece of art, but riding them is just weird, maybe they bounce a little too fast since they’re on 2 legs, while 4-leggers have a more smooth and less bouncy animation. I don’t feel sick from it though, like someone mentioned above.
Similar to proto-drakes, coolest mounts in the game, but the weird camera angle puts me off whenever I decide to use one.

When did you last see a Draenei on an elekk?
I much prefer the night elf and dwarf mounts.

Actually, thursday. I remember it because, as you point out, that is rather rare
I think maybe it was a mistake giving a huge race a huge mount. Might have been more popular if they were a bit smaller and with better textures.
Oof. Not too long ago I got (or noticed I had passively gotten, due to the achievement requirements having changed) the Red proto-drake, but it only really works for 1 of my characters and it’s one I barely play
If I am honest it is the Night Elf mount for me, I always loved the Sabre mounts and was so happy when I got mine

There’s just better mounts to use, looks-wise.

I agree Onori, but when I first started to play that wasn’t the case and for me the Sabres were the best looking mounts (beside the mechanohog which I could not afford). So I got my Sabre and was so happy, as is the case when you get something you want, but then as a surprise birthday gift in game, my sister and some friends had farmed the mats for the Mechanohog, so the poor Sabre was left behind. Then we got flying, so bye, bye hog, yes I am fickle
I only finished crafting my motorcycle a few years ago, felt so good. Still have the moment immortalized on youtube. It remains my engineer’s standard ground mount.

I still use it as a ground mount in new expansions when we can’t fly, as I said my sister is a lazy driver
But yes an awesome mount.
Link the youtube, I would like to see it if you don’t mind that is?
