I mained my Evoker in S1 and I was about to switch to my Paladin in S2 but between the evoker legendary and the hassle of catching up in Renown, I stayed on my Evoker for S2. I also leveled all the classes to max in during S2.
But now in season 3, between getting a bit tired of evoking and the new legendary being some 2H axe, I was pondering of making my S3 main into either my Paladin, Warrior or Death Knight.
I wanted so ask those who played these 3 classes so far in DF about which of these 3 found more fun/rewarding to play right now
Not tried paladin since rework. I rly just cant get begind their aesthetic im afraid.
However.
Dk or warrior id do warrior, it has more mobility and it just feels satisfying to play overall, they have the downfall at sucking at some m+ affixes, but its so much fun :).
DKs kit feels extremely bloated with how many CDs they have causing GCD locks during their burst. The lack of mobility can feel awful.
Frost DK can feel abit better with its meaty oblits, but BoS in raids is annoying if theres downtime. Requiring 1handeds and a 2handed to play between modes and the fact frost has been pretty bad in terms of balance lately.
And zit popping isnt rhat much for unholy overall.
I think warriors better of choice, i tried DK at rhe start of S2 and just couldnt get into it.
If the axe is your motivation it sounds like a bad idea if you don’t really enjoy it the class. Quite frankly its a silly reason to pick a main and so many people are going to regret it.
But paladin probably the best pick there if you had to pick one from those. All 3 specs are different enough from eachother so you have plenty to do/learn.
I am honestly quite fond of all the classes (as I said I leveled them all to 70, all 13 of the classes), except maybe rogue (ironically my first character in WoW) which I like less because they somehow always felt missing something compared to the other classes.
They are backstabby yet when solo they cannot stay much behind the enemy.
I would make the poison and shadow elements of Assas and Sub more prominent.
The legendary just gives me an incentive to not drop the season as soon as the heroic final boss dies.
Though… if it is another super RNG leggo that needs 3+ months of raid clears then I might not pursue it
That’s why it’s a mistake to choose based on legendary. I heavily focused evoker in s2 didn’t get the Lego till couple weeks before I got ksh and was done for the season
Just make sure to play all of them a decent amount in somewhat challenging content and see which ones you enjoy most.
It’s what I did the past few weeks and I discovered a lot about myself and the things I enjoyed in specs or classes. (For me: there need to be some layered playstyle mechanics, like an energy bar + another system, or the rotation needs to be sufficiently complicated enough).
Having strong burst AoE also instantly makes a class feel more fun.
On another note,
I do think Dev Evoker is a great and fun class for me though, I also played it for 2 entire seasons, including getting the legendary… but it appears I also need variety. Playing the same class for multiple seasons can wear you down after a while.
I was partial to returning to one of those classes even without legendaries.
I need them to be as geared as possible to farm Legion mythics for plate transmog.
I also wanted to shift back to a class that can tank because I kind of got tired of how healers have to compete for sniping heals of each other or look bad in the meters.
I stopped having fun with Dev when I was informed that I had to clip Disintegrate for the sake of optimization
The dk tier set should persuade anyone! BDK is fun but has its challenges, UHDK the gargoyle build gives you RSI but the changes to the spec with tier and tuning emphasises smaller windows for sustain and frost dk, it’s not really my jam. Oblits are great when you chunk with the dnd cleave, but that is really clunky as someone mentioned above.
Bloat isn’t too much bar unholy, and the ‘zit popping’ isn’t a focus at all as it stands! If you want to see 1.7 mill heals, blood is your choice!
And then replace the gear with mythic +2 and a few world events…
Better to just go on ptr and see what one likes the most.
I really hate how warrior plays next season (only ok with protection), the tier set looks horrendous visually, the build we are forced into is bad, and they nerf our M+ group utiltiy due to raid without giving as an alternative. Straight up Bad. I’m considering skipping the season, unless I really happen to enjoy some other class a lot, which is not that likely, since I’ve tried a few.
