Trying to wrap my head around it

I actually joked recently with some friends that we might see the Corrupted Ashbringer in the trading post for 75 coins. And then I see this post in wowhead:

So I gotta take a minute to digest it. Hood, ok. Robe, fine.

But Atiesh? ATIESH?

Those of you who have been around for a while know what it took to equip this staff. The preparation, the time investment, 40 people showing up to run demanding end game content for 5 or more consecutive months until all splinters dropped just for ONE person. Naxxramas, AQ40, BWL. The amount of dedication was simply admirable, hence the prestige linked to the staff. Let aside the heavy lore that came with it.

16 years of playing this game I only came across TWO Atiesh wielders. Did I want it for my mage? BADLY. Did I care that it looks like a toothpick? HELL NO. Was I just fine with it being unobtainable? TOTALLY. Because some items are just too sacred to be obtained after their time has passed (and would make them piss-easy to get).

Again, we are not discussing RNG drops, but hard, consistent, coordinated work from an entire group of people.

But alright, now we are likely to open a chest, loot some coins and pick it up from the vendor. Then walk next to Khadgar and snap a couple of selfies together, like happy wielders of Atiesh do.

Its looks like a completely different look from the “classic” one tbh just like the leaked Gul one. I wouldnt worry about it tbh . And as you are well aware the only reason why there was not more staffs is because Naxx was cut short to bring in TBC.

It tells a lot about you as a person if your happiness is determined around having something that others don’t have.

I think you missed the point. I am happy for those who obtained it when it was relevant and hardcore for the reasons I already explained.

I want corrupted ashbringer, i could mog it on a evoker

How many (Or rather, few) people actually ever got Atiesh? (Considering Naxx was so rarely used that Blizz just recycled the whole thing for Wrath, just to get some return on investment) Are any of those few still playing?

Faux-Atiesh will probably be easily distinguishable from the “real thing”, if you can find anybody to compare it with, anyway.

But in all honesty it was not , just the shards were insanely low drop rate and Naxx was cut short.

alot of things that were unobtainable are getting recycled for blizzard to make money with.

the TCG toys as twitch rewards are a good example.

corrupted ashbringer has already been recycled in the past.

Those who know will be able to distinguish it. Hopefully it won’t be an exact copy.

I disagree. Especially for that period of time, with the resources available and the amount of people required to do the job.

The main problem was the attunement , guilds cleared most of it until last 2 with 30 and not 40 players . Also like stated it was cut short with TBC being launched and an insane low drop rate.
One stallling block was having tanks for patchwerk. It was not hardcore at all just luck and time.

Also it looks nothing like the Naxx staff so why the worry.

While it’s only for paladins, you can get the hidden prot or holy artifact appearance and then complete 30 legion dungeons, and you have an updated much better looking corrupted Ashbringer.

There is no appearance yet we don’t know if it’s one way or the other.

I will “worry” less when I see the actual thing.

Apparently looks like the one in the pic which is nothing like the atiesh one.

Thats subjective i was really disapointed after doing so much to get the secret look.

Said pic is an old promotional pic of Medivh. Article says no appearances were found for the items.

It says Standard of the Guardian.

It doesn’t say Atiesh.

No appearances have been found to go along with the items just yet,

I know, we don’t have a visual yet. But I still find it embarrassing they want to bring back a copy of an iconic item.

I’m the biggest guardian of the Time removed content there is.

But this will probably just end up being some new high/mid res model. Something gimmicky and cartoony enough to get people who want it to sub for a month keeping the RP’ers happy, but in no way mistakable for the original and causing a misjustice to those who collected it in Vanilla.

That I’m not even mad about it. I will probably end up collecting it myself.

Bro it’s a cleaning broom with 2 pixels, one is a long stick and the other some circular object.

Out of anything to be outraged at, Atiesh which is one of the least aesthetically pleasing legendary and super rare items to exist in the game is NOT one to complain about.

Also, at this rate, WoW’s been out for over 15 years, and most of the older gear are very outdated and look like it’s from a different game, and the only way they would update that gear in resolution is if they do something like this, so I am quite okay with it.
