Hi, Im just starting to use TSM Addon and I noticed that it needs the desktop app to update the addon with information I am just wondering and hoping is this all above board and completely 100% unbannable as I do not want my account to be banned for using an addon and whenever a 3rd party program interacts with WoW it makes me nervous.
You wont be banned by using TSM and its desktop application 
Just remember to open the app and let it load before launching the game
