Turn off orc combat grunt/shouts

Is there anyway to do this, even with a addon would be fine. It’s driving me insane.
And I only mean the combat shouts and grunt it makes while attacking something. Not the actual fighting sounds.

I reckon yes, but it’s tedious. You need to google the addon, but googling something along the lines “Sound replacement addon” will most likely will get you there. If I recall right, you need to do some voice line diving in the database and find the exact grunt ID’s to replace them with blank .ogg file. There are tutorials for this and are rather easy to find.

Have you tried playing a male kul’tiran with any melee? Now that gets annoying really fast. Having my survival hunter go hAAAAAAAA every single time I use mongoose bite is just…whoa.

There are a few addons that can do this. The first one is Leatrix Plus. It has a bunch of extra options for the game. One of these features is muting all combat screams.
Another option is MuteSoundFile, which lets you mute specific sounds by inputting it’s soundID. I’ve done this myself but it’s quite time consuming because you need to use external sources to browse game files and figure out which sound you want to mute. Most races have 20-30 grunts, shouts, etc.

You can also create a Weakaura that does this, but it has the same issues as MuteSoundFile, where you need to figure out the soundID.

The advantage of the MuteSoundFile and Weakauras is you have complete control of what you want to mute, not just combat grunts. I used Weakauras for example to mute the “LET FLY!” screams in Nokhud Offensive.

All of these methods are perfectly within the ToS, since you don’t actually alter any game files.

What does faction have to do with it? Both factions have some races that are super obnoxious with their constant grunting and moaning

I am using Leatrix plus addon now to mute the annoying grunts and shouts.
For those we wants to turn those annoying sounds as well. Install Leatrix Plus.
in game type /LTP - go to system - mute game sounds - click the little cog.

Zugzugs must remain as zugzug, moaning and grunting are a part of zug culture, it can’t be changed.

Is maybe one of these activating the deactivated demon voices in Classic. It is driving me nuts that in Classic my Imp is not complaining and my Succubus giving no seductive comments.

That can also be done with Leatrix Plus. Mute all mount sounds or just dragons etc

those grunts and shouts are part of the orc’s racial fantasy how dare you suggest they mute them :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, every race makes those sounds. Worst for me is female draenei and zandalari troll male. I think you just have a higher tolerance to those sounds than some of us here, who gets annoyed by most of them :relaxed:
