Twinks destroying battlegrounds

A Big part of the replayability of this game is to level new characters and bring them into pvp. This was especially fun in the 61-69 bracket until patch 10.0.7. Something has happened the past two weeks, but now you see an absurd amount of twinks in these brackets. And twinks are just not fun for anyone but the twink. Hunter twinks are critting 200k with sniper shot, which means you 1 shot anything thats not a twink.

Games are automatically won before the game even starts just by seeing who has most twinks. Tonite I had 4 games in a row where the opponent team had 4 MM hunter twinks in all 4 games. Its a terrible game experience.

I would seriously consider doing something about this to retain subscriptions when you don’t have anything to do on your main anymore.

There arent any twinks at 61-69 bracket. You even can’t lock your xp above 60.
They just use the trinkets from SL to up the hp they have and hunters are broken in low lvl bgs.
It’s full of them.
I got a twink myself but it’s at lvl 50 and you need to spends hours and weeks to gear it up.
Just spam a lot of dungeons untill 68 and then do bgs to get honor cap, will be a lot better to play then.

You are right. I think there is a combination of problems.

I completely forgot that lvl 70s can get into 61-69 bracket too, which in itself is so freaking gamebreaking I dont understand how it has not been removed YET.

But I see people hitting 250k health now in the 61-69 bracket. Thats more than twice of what anyone who just does regular lvling has.

This seriously needs to be looked at. Its part of the game, and while the narrative is that “only end game is relevant”, this mentality has to stop. A huge part of the replayability of this game is lvling new characters, if that experience is horrible, people will complete the end-game content in the first 2 months and then unsubscribe until next content patch.

That’s why i actually have a twink at 50. So i can do all the old content without 1 shotting everything.
And iff i want to do a bg on my twink i have to unlock my xp to be able to queue.
And that’s annoying because iff you win you lvl up, you would have to leave the bg just for the end so you only get 1 or 2 bars of xp and i hate leaving bg’s, so not playing a lot of them on my twink.

I leveled up a warrior a few weeks ago and had no problem what so ever.

Buy some crafted gear and have some awareness where those mm hunters stand.

Ofc if you stand in the middle of the map when they open up on you or you don’t want to buy gear players that does gear up will murder you.

So you have different experience than me. We dont know which one of those are the average.

I have maxed out the gear I can. I am wearing a maximum of ilvl 343 crafting order pieces from getting matrixes and being lvl 64+.

If it was this simple, I would never make a post about it.

Maybe you should do what I did if you have problem against mm hunters.

Take one to 70 and do shuffle with it, then you will soon realise what they don’t like and how to deal with them.

It will not take long because you will get targeted 90% of the games, the only thing that draws more aggro is a warlock or sp.

It’s the same as ret paladins, even if you are not always able to kill them you want them to be more defensive by forcing their turtle and bubble or so someone else can kill them more easily.

Hunters dominate at every bracket in BGs, simply due to the large open spaces and the fact that people rarely focus them.

Personally I found the 60-69 bracket to be the most balanced, and all the brackets before that never even pop nowadays.

My two mains are hunter and rogue, and it has been such since I bought wow in 2005. I am aware of the weakness of the hunter. This is offtopic to the problem at hand. My OP was about twinks (and lvl 70s joining 61-69 BGs), and a twink still has an unfair advantage that can ruin BG experience despite having clear class weaknesses.

Twinks hardly even exist. Most low level brackets are dead, which leaves 61-69. You can’t even disable XP, so anyone with “decent” gear will quickly out level the bracket. Not to mention, by the time they’ve farmed decent gear at level 67-69, they’ll probably be level 70 anyway.

Party sync is presumably the bigger problem, but they just need to scale syncers down to the lower end of the bracket, rather than the upper end.

I agree with this a lot, BUT

This might be survivor bias. I know the main reason I no longer play low level BGs are because twinks are most crazy here. Perhaps this is the reason it died?

I saw very few twinks on the few low level BGs I played, they might have good gear but they’ll quickly out level the bracket.

I think there’s just far fewer people levelling up nowadays, and it simply isn’t worth playing BGs due to the very low XP rate. 61-69 survives as people need some honor at level 70 anyway, and it has more people playing.

Sometimes I see level 70 but not twinks in the 61-69 bracket as well.

Between level 61-63 it’s a bit rough but at 64 I counter the 70 with 64 crafted gear, engineering and a feast.

I do the gold quests while waiting so I at least can afford the 2 star enchants, flask and food because it’s true the most geared team wins and I rather win than lose.

The level 70 might have a slight gear advantage but they can’t use engineering and enchants so if you want to close the gap that is what you need to do.

Thanks. That’s the beautiful thing about WoW, there are tons of cool ways to problem solve your way out of ridiculous game mechanics, such as allowing level 70s into the 61-69 bracket.

I Fundamentally still think it should be changed, because it is gatekeeping for players who dont min-max their gear like you do.

Min-maxing during lvling content should give you an edge, not force lvling players to do it to avoid getting one shotted by a 200k Sniper shot crit, or a ret paladin killing you in 4 globals.

Not in my experience. I levelled up around 6 toons during the pre-patch before I got DF and I flew through the levels while running BGs before 60. It takes slightly longer from 60-70 but then getting Honor is more important to me than the speed at which I level up in that bracket.
