Blizzard can you explain to me how we are to survive dmg like this ?https://i.gyazo.com/8169d2fbfc5344d138c8148a60e5e53d.png

And this is just the last boss on layer 3 cant imagen what the last boss does in layer 8 prolly does 1mil or 1,5 mil in a singel hit . I picked everything that would help my dps and my survivability but it dosent help when boss hit for 110 k per hit . This have to be the dumbest s**t you guys made so far
Last boss in layer 8 with about 9mil health and hitting my solo-tank for just under 140k.
However, there are scaling variables to consider seeing as it differs for tanks, healers, and damage dealers AFAIR - just like visions. It didn’t help that I had neither good defensives nor an optimal damage-dealing setup, which made things worse.
Either way, a lot rests on your choice of powers, with some classes (more than others) relying on very specific powers or setups for best results.
I’ve solo’d every standard layer as Prot Pala, Prot War and Resto Shaman (and tried DPS specs on each), and solo’d the entire twisting corridor as Paladin simply for the rewards. It took three attempts to complete the very final layer - most of which had me getting stomped by floor 14-16.
I’m sure others have had a better (or worse) time.
I just finished layer 4 tc with 12k max hp (decreased each floor) and my shields maybe 60k absorb.
Best defence is a good offence, did like 600k dps though.
Edit: my 10-15 mirror images probably made that work
Interrupt.
Guess some bosses are hard for one class and free kill for others. As Paladin I can interrupt caster bosses like this one most times and use some self heal if for some reason a cast couldnt be interrupted. On the other hand there are bosses that melee hit for 150k+ and one also applies a 200k ticking DoT in melee range which is a tough fight for a class with no proper kiting toolkit like Paladin.
It sometimes helps reading the tooltip (within death log) of the cast that killed you. Some can be outranged.
We priests have the fade anima power, you fade and the boss is attacking your fade-image. You will also need way more than 150k HP in total in upper layers.
I dont know what class youre playing torghast with but for sure every class must have something to mitigate such high damaging spells
If you want to cheat twisting corridors you can re-enter until you get Mort-regar wing and look for rare that gives you power that you cannot loose more than 25% of your health per hit.
That power literally makes for any class a full proof run.
Some helpful tips:
Check your class/spec best powers, if you don’t know what to go for check you class discord and/or other guides.
Use consumables especially if you feel you are struggling. This is very important and depending on your gear and/or how many silly mistakes you will make it can change your run from a walk in the park to a nightmare and vise versa.
Use the red anima thingie (I don’t remember the name) to target specific powers. There’s a WA that shows what mobs give what powers.
Do not be afraid to reset a run. Especially in higher layers if you feel you are extremely unlucky with phantasm and powers its better to reset at floor 8 than loose the run at floor 18. For example, I reset one time on layer 8 cause for the 1st three floors I was getting the mawrats platforms and zero useful powers. It will most probably get better later but why waste time? Also by floor 13-14 you know if you can kill the last boss.
Use your utility.
And last but not least, even if you blast do not get cocky. The last boss of layer 8 will burry you 6 feet under if you don’t pay attention (never happened to me, just heard rumors
)
All in all, I finished it with 214 ilvl with only one reset at layer 8 and zero fails. Good luck and I hope my tips help to enjoy your mount.
Hunters have no hope in soloing layer 8 tc as most of their anima powers are really awful. Good ones are few and far between and even then they don’t scale as high as some other classes.
This is inherent design flaw of this feature - total lack of balance between classes. Mage Towers were tailored for specific classes / specs. They were well balanced and well liked. All of them were possible although some were easier than others. Torghast though? No, I can’t see myself soloing layer 8 if i struggled a lot with layer 2 (hit a brick wall on Patrician Cromwell - 2 hours down the drain)
I went through the first 7 layers solo. then i was too bored after doing it for hours, I went for the final one with a group to end things faster.
The trick, is to balance out your abilities. You need defensive stuff, otherwise, after floor 12, you’re going to struggle HARD. most things can oneshot you if you go full offensive.
Impressive. I see you only had about 80k HP.
I am up to layer 8 as well and have 3 failed runs so far, only one of those I made it to floor 18 and was blessed with Observer Zelgar who (according to wowhead comments) still is bugged and overtuned. Think I got him to around 60% as my absolute best attempt, but that was only because of lucky HoW stuns and the power that has a 20% chance to stun the target when dealing holy dmg.
I will keep trying though. One of these days I will get a lucky combination of powers, floors and end boss.
Thats the problem…
I got the semi-ideal setup on my 2nd run.
Considering that each run takes me 3 hours and almost 4 on layer 8 as shadow… Im thankful
But still 8 layers + 2 fails on 17th and 18th floor makes over 30 hours of torture… For A MOUNT that walks in the maw that a rarely do XD
I can already see (on just hit L1 last night after having to catch up the story on this guy) did the TC 18 floors on L1 with a buddy to get the quest done. We made it, pretty smooth, but I go so little defensive powers (I think I got a 30% stamina buff) and that’s it, and yeah health spikes were common by floor 16. It’s just a good job my WoG was healing for like 100k by that point so I could undo damage instantly.
Was begging for a health power or something but nada, game kept throwing me some really good offensive powers though. We ended up in a wierd situation where the WW monk ended up healbotting me (with the vivify dmg power) and I was the DPS and tank as a holy pala because my DPS was massively outscaling his due to having an absurd amount of HoW charges and damage buffs, 100% crit during wings with like 100% wings uptime, 2 stacks of the wings buff (so 66% increased damage done) and HoW increasing my next HP spender by 150% dmg (so SoTR was critting for 26k), reduce HP spend, two of the "when u crit, u deal arcane damage) which meant all my abilities procced it and to finish it off the ashen hallow buffs which meant it had basiclaly no cooldown, and every time i used shock or judgement during it (which both had tiny cds by this point) it would proc the damage and healing (which would proc the arcane crit thing).
Absolute madness but hugely fun. Kinda feel sorry for my buddy though as his powers seemed naff in comparison whilst i’m throwing out isntant casts for like 60k crits plus 20k arcane damage every second. Not huge compared to some classes i’m sure but it was more than enough for the run and combined with the fact I was constantly healing us for 50-100k with WoG every few secs.
I agree with you, but here’s the thing for me at least:
It’s only a mount I can use in the Maw. And I’m barely even doing the weeklies in the Maw as it is, so I keep doing Torghast because I want to, not because I feel I have to. If I stop now and don’t touch the Twisting Corridors again, I haven’t really lost out on much.
So basically, I am doing this for me, more than for the rewards. If that made sense to anyone?
I understand your frustration and complain honestly, but stopping now that you know everything there upside down will result to more time spent next time you go for it and YOU WILL go for it.
Just take a 1-2 day break, it was impossible for me but you can try.
Oh, I’m not frustrated at all. Sorry if my post gave that idea. I was simply trying to state that I don’t feel that I have to do TC Layer 8, so that’s why I want to do it. For myself and my own bragging rights, kinda.
Got Patrician Cromwell on layer 8, floor 18 on my hunter. I had a perfect build and still got butt-munched by 180-200k volley bolts -.- Right then and there I lost all interest in WoW for the foreseeable future.
Here is a gamechanger for you.
When you start TC, go in and out until you get Mort`regar as first wing.
Cover EVERYTHING in floor 1-6, look after a rare called something like “Wailing/Wandering death”
This rare has 100% dropchance on a power called “Defiance of death” - Wich makes impossible for any single strike to hit you for more than 25% hp.
This is a gamechanger on higher floor on higher layers, since pretty much anything can oneshot you no matter your powers and hp.
If you dont find the rare, just start TC with Mort`regar as first wing again.
I kept failing on l8 f17, then i did this and it was a cakewalk (Combined with other good defensive powers wich you most likely will be able to pick anyway)
Thank you. I’ve had that power and it really does make things easier.
I’ve usually reset floors so that I get either Scoldus Halls or Fractured Chambers as the first, as that debuff isn’t so hard to deal with at higher floors. (Plus, Fractured Chambers mobs can give you that 10x Phantasma from skeleton power if you use a Ravenous Orb on certain mobs on that floor).
I will definitely try your approach and aim for that power next time I try.
You can’t, and you should’t solo it even if you can its a complete waste of time especially on classes that have no 2e chances due stupid anima powers that fade due death or simple re summon, ofcourse you can solo it but the difference is do you wanna start over 10 times before finally clearing it, or do you wanna 1 shot it with a group.
Torghast was a huge mistake that takes way to much time.
