Two-handed intellect weapons on Paladin

Yo.

I can’t be the one that’s annoyed by this. It’s been like this for a few expansions too.

Why the hell do 2H intellect weapons drop for paladins, when Blizzard insists that we use a shield?

Can we, 3-4 years down the line, fix this?

If Blizzard has a hard time working out a fix, here’s some ideas. (Try to keep up, they are very complex)
A) Don’t let 2h intellect weapons drop for Holy Paladins.
B) Make Shield of the Righteous not require a shield
C) Change Shield of the Righteous to something like Denounce, same effect, no shields involved.

It really feels like Blizzard just gave up on Holy Paladin since 2019. All the systems feel outdated, clunky, bad.

I like 2 handed holy paladin, but you should do more damage, and SOTR should change into denounce if you wield 2h. That would make the choice more meaningful because of the loss of armor stat from not having a shield.

Personally, I just want it to be up to us which we use. I don’t want either to be stronger or weaker, the lack of armor and block don’t affect me too much in PVE, and I’m sure it’s a relatively easy fix for PVP (Passive: When using a 2H gain the equivalent shield block from your 2Hers ilvl) .

I’m just annoyed, when I come back to this game, I do the weekly stuff, and I am rewarded with items that, if I use, I can’t play the class. Even though it dropped for holy loot spec.

Let us use whatever we want visually, just remove the need for a shield on SoTR. If for some reason they just want paladins using 1h+shield, then don’t make items that require a 2Her accessible to holy paladins. So straight forward.

I made the exact same post over a year ago, I just realized. When the Tyr’s Hammer from DOTI dropped for me. For crying out loud our legion artifact was a 2Her even.

How hasn’t one person who playtests internally, or one person from Blizzard recognized this as a problem for so long? Really disappointing.

Because people like ME use them on Holy Paladin. And they work as well as 1-hand + shield on it in endgame.

You just drop Shield of the Righteous from your rotation.

The only time I equip a 1H weapon and shield as a Paladin is when I’m tanking… As a Holy Paladin, I want to wield a 2H mace—like The Silver Hand, artifact weapon from Legion.

Sadly we’re in a place where healers are meant to damage, interrupt, cc etc, while healing, and removing one of our biggest damage dealing spenders isn’t really a viable option for anyone wanting to play the class correctly.

I would love to use a 2Her personally, just looks cooler and more holy paladin to me. But as long as Shield of the Righteous has the caveat that it requires a shield, it’s just not viable.

Yeah I wanted holy pala use two-handed as intellect.

But also tank pala need two-handead. Since look cooler than one-handed and shield.
Like blood DK can tank with 2h.
I dont have see much story about who use 1H and shield as tank or healer.
EVERY use use 2H hammer.
No reason why players as tank and healer cant be 2H.

To quote Todd Howard. “It just works”.

Didn’t had a single issue yet in M+ up to +10 keys (I don’t give a heavenly :poop: about anything higher than that key range).

I feel the same about wands for my poor Warlocks

Replace shield of the righteous with divine storm. For prot shield of the righteous replaces divine storm. Ret increases divine storm damage because holy version would be weak.

Such a simple fix, yet it evades Blizzard, somehow.

Make denounce baseline and not pvp talent.
Also let our crusader strike to hit harder with 2h after all its 2h weapon.

Interesting Idea, HOWEVER… Why not give both roles an unique version of it that ties as same into the base rotation?

  • Holy Paladin
    • Light Coil - (Opposite version of Death Coil basically, since Paladins are basically opposites to Death Knights. Priests to Warlocks.)
      • Spell damages the target, causing it to erupt in Light, healing yourself and nearby allies while reducing Crusader Strike Cooldown by 1,5s.
      • Does work with the passive “Lightforged Blessing”.
      • Requires 3 Holy Power to be Cast.
  • Protection Paladin
    • Divine Plates
      • Spell is actually a temporary buff for 10-15s. The User imbues the plates of the own armor with Holy Light, increasing armor, threat level to enemies and slowing enemies in close proximity partially for a very short time. Similarly like the Draenei Paladin in the TBC trailer.
      • Does work with the passive “Lightforged Blessing”.
      • Requires 3 Holy Power to be Cast.

Basically those spells should further improve the class gameplay without necessarily relying on dealing damage. Especially for Protection Paladin it would make more sense to bless the own armor than to offensively attack with a 2-hand weapon that can’t block magical attacks.

Guess what legion remix has.
