Two Handed Maces/Axes on the back issue (VERY SERIOUS!)

Heya! Was hoping I could make a post on this topic in full here, but apparently you need level 3 trust to post images, which is dumb, so if you wanna read all of it with pictures and details, check r/wow subreddit (same name), I worked hard on those. With that being said, I still want to post here so that it gets talked about by more people.

I have an issue with two handed axes, hammers and some polearms positions when they’re sheathed on your back. I’ve seen this problem more and more with recent expansions, but noone seems to notice it, or never cared enough to speak up.

My problem is that most two handers use 2h sword position on the back, which doesn’t work for weapons that you hold closer to the head: [image on reddit]

The Silver Hand is one of the worst offenders, because it has a very long handle, and the head sticks out too little, resulting in a very unpleasant back position. It sucks, because I really like how it looks in combat and in general, but I can’t use it if I’ll have to see this most of the time. And no, I don’t like the alternative of hiding it with a 3d back attachment.

Older weapons look fine, because most of them are held like swords, closer to the hilt: [image on reddit]

Also for some reason many polearms in the game, instead of using the staff position (head up), again use the sword one (head down), resulting in even longer “antennas” sticking out: [you get the idea]

So how can Blizzard fix this? Well, they already tried to give some hammers the staff position on the back (head up), but it doesn’t work as well for them, because they’re beefier, and clip through shoulderpads and helmets, so no. I propose two ways to change it: []

  1. Make a third position specifically for these kinds of weapons, so most of them will look fine on the back. This is an easier solution, but it has a problem that it won’t fit all of them, as the grips and lengths are all over the place. []

  2. A more complicated solution, but one that will fix the problem entirely is this: let the artist who create the models to change their position on the back SEPARATELY from their position in hand. That will ensure that all weapons will look great, no matter the size or length. []

Obvioulsy, I want them to do #2, but I don’t know if they will bother enough with this, seeing as there aren’t enough people speaking out about this.

This is why I need YOU, people. Rise up, ye 2h lovers! We shaln’t be silent no longer! Spread this information anywhere wow related, make similar posts or just try to contribute however possible if you care about this. I WANT TO USE THESE WEAPONS, but because of how awful they look on the back I can’t : (

I know that this won’t be Blizzard’s main priority right now, especially sinse they’ll be working on Dragonflight in the months to come, but this needs to be changed, and together we can make it happen! Thank you for getting to the end ^^
