Here are a couple of ideas I had for an iteration on Rapture. I had a few basic goals:
- Use a fixed total absorb to help balance the ability. In the tooltips below, XXXXX is a meaningful amount spread over a group. Let’s say for argument XXXXX is about the same as 5 PW:S.
- The fun comes from the player sharing out the total absorb in clever ways, so they can drop more or less absorb appropriately to the group.
- Player can use Rapture to prepare for an incoming spike, or react to high current damage.
OK, here are the two ideas!
IDEA 1
Rapture (Instant, 1.5m cooldown)
For the next 8 sec, Power Word: Shield also applies Bliss (see below). After 8 sec, each stack of Bliss is immediately replaced by a Power Word: Shield absorbing an equal share of XXXXX total absorb. Using an ability other than Power Word: Shield initiates this effect immediately.
Bliss
When Rapture expires or is cancelled, this effect will be replaced by a Power Word: Shield. This effect stacks.
Example: Priest presses Rapture and uses PW:S to apply Bliss to 4 players in their 5-man group, skipping the tank, and clicking an additional second stack on a squishy shaman. The priest then uses Flash Heal to end Rapture, so each of the 4 players receives an PW:S, the first three being equal and the shaman receiving double the amount.
IDEA 2
Rapture (Instant, 1.5m cooldown)
Immediately Power Word: Shield your target, absorbing XXXXX. For the next 8 sec, when Power Word: Shield is applied to a target, the total remaining absorb of all Power Word: Shield effects are redistributed equally over all targets with Power Word: Shield.
Example 1: In preparation for a damage spike, the Priest presses Rapture to drop the full shield on the tank.
Example 2: In preparation for a damage spike, the Priest initially presses Rapture to drop the full shield on the tank, then spreads 50% of the value to the squishy shaman by applying a second PW:S within 8 sec.
