im deeply concerned on the direction arcane mage is taking with TWW
removal of managem, and arcane missiles can only be casted if clearcasting proc, makes me feel like we are going to butcher the class once again
the most annoying thing is how 10 pixels later they say how they understand how annoying it is to have your spec tied to procs and then, the WHOLE spec seems to revolve around that, OR spam arcane blast
now spamming arcane blast in pvp, is rly not an option, idk what the rotation will look like, but i know arcane missiles wont be a part of it unless you have clearcasting
atm, u can force the procs with managem, but thats also going away⌠so, yeah, im a little concerned
this sounds exactly like what happened to post legion arcane when we entered bfa, we had the best version of arcane mage we ever played, and then we entered bfa, and they removed EVERYTHING it went back to his cataclysm state, but they also increasce the manacost and nerfed the damage, so, nobody ever touched it again
now in dragonflight, arcane is definetly more fun than bfa/SL, and frankly speaking i was crossing my fingers they wouldnât F UP the spec completely but the changed ive read so far, made me think there is a big chance we are going that direction once againâŚ
I agree with the point on missiles. I donât know where the idea came from to disallow regular missiles, but theyâre important in so many niche situations. Finishing off mobs that you canât AE but another Blast would be slower and way overkill. Hitting sb whoâs about to LoS you in PvP. Using Arcane Battery, now that thatâs a thing and a thing theyâre going to keep (good choice btw), when you just donât get CC procs for whatever reason (travel time, phase transition, just bad luck).
I also really agree with the point on Expansion transition. Legion Arcane was a blast. Arcane right now feels almost as good (Evo + Spark + Surge + Touch is too much, thatâs kind of it). Now while some stuff looks great, like the Battery change or Spark getting an alternative, iâm also concerned iâm not gonna have fun with arcane anymore because of unnecessary changes like no raw Missiles or both Hero Talent Trees just pumping even more power into Surge. Right now the balence between cooldown window and conserve phase feels right. Even more power being shifted to cooldowns or locked behind procs could easily shift it to feeling just good on cooldowns and awful without them. No spec should have moments that feel awful without it being a punishment for a misplay.
spark needs to go, touch needs to be buffed, and overall arcane dps needs to be buffed, literally all spells needs a % of buff, spark is just another modifier and another precast, just remove it, its basically run of power level of toxic if not worse imo
i have to cast evo, and surge just to tickle enemies atm
if not for the clunkyness of surge and spark id say arcane design is flatout better than legion
surge being a WAY weaker mark of aluneth, touch being a better charged up, and spark being just obsolete but lowkey only way to deal dmg on par with others atmâŚ
Surge need to go or the cast time must be instantâŚright now with the amount of cc itâs sometimes impossible to cast that⌠Also revert the changes to chrono shift⌠All melee are now either super mobile or have many tool to close the distance between mage and themâŚ25% slow in PvP when frost got to keep theirs 100% is bullcrap
oh man in pve arcane rotation (currently) is a mess, thats why they bearyl exist in teh game anymore, no one takes to M+ or raids, cuz they udnerperform due to the insane amount of rotation that reqs of you to pull out in 2 second with a complex macro to do some damage, this is literal sheet, i hope they give us back the same feeling what we had back in legion with arcane, cuz that was abosultly mazing, with out worry about mana cost at all or worry about clear casting procing this is teh third expansion (Dargon isles) when arcane mages were performed well⌠sheet. And teh game becomes way to fast pasted and peoples reaction times are not geting bettre in time when they age, so thats also hase to be noted as a game play mechanics for arcane or in general for mages.
I have to disagree with your argument, because you mentioned that the best version of arcane mage was back in legion which had arcane missiles tied to a proc you couldnât cast arcane missiles without a proc, imo whenever arcane missiles can be casted without a proc it does no damage just like we saw in bfa/SL. I think the changes in general were good for arcane but my suggestion is to make clearcasting only consumed by arcane missiles and make arcane explosion a way to generate clearcasting stacks instead of consuming it especially if you take arcane tier set into consideration, right now you can only get 1 clearcasting proc with arcane explosion and if you want to get more stacks you have to cast spells which make it difficult in PvP situations. I also would prefer to make arcane surge an instant cast since almost every spec in the game has its big modifier instant and off GCD, but from what I have heard a lot of people think it would be too op since it also generates mana as well. One more thing to mention which I think itâs a bug right now, I have noticed that spamming arcane barrage with no arcane charges wonât generate clearcasting proc, I tested it on beta and spammed a LOT of arcane barrages and didnât get a single proc. As for the mana gem tbh even in DF I feel it just makes the rotation clunky, if they want to add back just let be off GCD otherwise itâs not worth it in PvP.
but that version didnât NEED to cast it, not u kinda have to, like, they are tying the entire spec around nether precision⌠back then every spell u casted was so strong
To me this change is absolutely terrible and completely destroyed the meaning of the class.
I liked the pvp content and arrows were the main spell I used. Just standing still and casting a blast is simply impossible and extremely boring. And also arrows had significantly better graphics while blast has no graphics at all, I canât even see if something is happening or not.
This is just a terrible change, it couldnât get any worse.
Ive played an arcane mage since BC and this rework isnt a fun spec to play anymore
youve completely messed it up please rework the spec and put stuff back to make it fun spec
