TWW - Levelling Rewards

I like the xp bonus for alts (not sure how many level 80s you need for this, it says multiple). But we used to have this with Heirlooms although they used to be upgraded in a content patch later in an expansion.

Tbf it does save us a lot of money having to upgrade those is a bit of a nightmare.

True, I haven’t upgraded any of mine since Legion.
There should have been a quest line (like Heritage Armour ones) to upgrade your all your heirlooms to current max level. It would give us some quests to do and have a worthwihile reward.

If the demand is there they can introduce a specific heirloom that either lowers stats or xp gain, maybe even both.

Gloves of the Iron Man
-500 armor
-150 Stamina
-150 Int/Agi/Str
Lowers your secondary stats by 25%
Reduces Xp gain from kills and quests by 50%
(stats scale with level)

Just an example.

Such a bad direction they’re going in with regards to leveling, imo. It’s like Blizzard wants to FORCE you to play Classic if anything besides Endgame is something you want to experience. Terrible, just terrible.

I don’t want it to be harder, just slower in terms of XP so that I can fully appreciate an expansion or so without suddenly one-shotting everything and ā€œOff to the latest expansion ya go!ā€

Could be an entirely different set where you can just equip the parts you want to make it harder.

Just like we now have an heirloom set you can have an anti heirloom set that gives set ā€˜bonusses’ with more pieces. The items could have just green quality stats
For example 2 set just lowers XP by a rather large margin to give those that just want it to be slower a way to do so, while still being able to equip their regular heirlooms if they want.

4 piece or 6 piece would only happen if you replace your regular heirlooms and would give your char increased damage taken or lowers stats/damage done.

They could inplement achievements when you get to 80 with a full negative set, awarding some sort of title or (class)transmog set. Doing it on x nr of chars even a mount.

I mean I would do it alone for the rewards since I already like leveling. I can imaging with the hardcore/Ironman crowd which have existed for over a decade it could be popular.

Feels like you’re solving one problem by causing another to be honest.

And you’re not really solving it much anyway. Those 5, 10, 15% you’ll get early will be barely noticeable, and by the time you get to 30% where things are starting to really take off, you stop.

Now, it is better than what they did with heirlooms, that is for sure, but… I don’t really think it fits in?

If the game is supposed to center on the player rather than the character, why would you need 7 characters for 14 professions?

Honestly, I think the problem here is the experience system itself sort of breaking down. I think it’s very sad that Nelle’s fun has to come at the cost of yours, and just making an item that prolongs levelling without giving anything in return is not something that appeals to me at all.

Maybe it’s time that levelling became a form of burrowed power that isn’t required to wear gear, isn’t required for your abilities, etc. So you get all your stuff by just levelling through one expansion once on any character and now other characters are just unlocked, and then the world mobs will behave like they do in vanilla unless you gain that continent’s level, idk. Requires a lot more refinement.

5% XP buff per character to max is absurd, is all I’m saying. Doesn’t solve anything.

You might have forgotten they absolutely nuked the xp requirement for 10-70.
Combine this with the xp boost and you’ll be back at getting to 70 in a few zones. I’m not too thrilled about this change tbh, I find leveling a fun activity and I love revisiting new zones.

Five characters at 80 would give you 25% which is the cap. But those four after your main would also get the increments. So basically after levelling your main:-

2nd char receives 5%
3rd char receives 10%
4th char receives 15%
5th char receives 20%
6th char onewards all receive 25%

Yeah it’s awful. It’s like they’re taking out levelling because it’s ā€œgetting in the wayā€. Well if it’s getting in the way, put it in its own separate way?

Like just make level not matter unless it’s open world content and use levels there to determine the relative strength of players and mobs, and give some gear as you go, so levelling becomes a separate game mode you can progress in for thousands of hours without making the PvP’ers or raiders lose their minds.

Imagine mobs and the player has an ā€œazerite levelā€ but it doesn’t do anything (no rewards, talents, weekly grinds, etc.) other than scale numbers when you attack a mob with a different ā€œazerite levelā€ to yours and vice versa. If you target anyone else, only gear and your ā€œnormal levelā€ does anything, and in dungeons and raids all the mobs will have a ā€œdungeon levelā€ or ā€œboss levelā€ which completely disables the system.

And everything gives these levels, open world more so than other activities.

You get all your spells by levelling normally, but after getting all these levels once you can just make a new character that’s max ā€œnormalā€ level, but with its own ā€œazerite levelā€ progression path. So people like Puny can just make 7 characters and that’s it, she’s done.

Hrm…

Not bad if you play quite a few alts I guess.
I used to play my alts more but even then I’d only level 2 or 3 alts. Now I don’t really do much with them if I do bother to level them.
Only time I leveled and played a lot of alts was Legion for he Order Hall campaigns and class mounts. Also had Legion Invasions that sped up leveling quite a bit.

I feel at this point what is the point of levelling at all?
How many zones can I complete before I am level 70 and ready to do TWW?
All 4 of the Dragonflight zones??
Maybe it’s time to scrap conventional levelling. I love it but not with this massive nerf etc… it’s just rush to end game, rush, rush!
Yes, the old levelling of every expansion was too much but this is too little.
I feel we need a different thing to level, an account wide points system or something like in GW2 or ESO because honestly what is the point of levelling when it is so sped up?
