TWW season 2 so far

So yes, I resubbed. I wanted to stay away from the forums at first, so I’ve been lurking, but the urge to post got the better of me.

Anyway… My thoughts on this new season and some issues I have with the game at the moment:

Overal in a story sense I like the season. It’s not something I love, but it’s okay and I at least enjoyed going through the story so far.

My main path to endgame gearing is Delves. And Delves this season for me fail on a number of things.

After the initial ‘honeymoon period’ of season 1, I’m more and more realizing now that Delves are not the endgame activity I’ve craved for all those years. It’s merely ‘the next best thing’, which is something, sure. But it’s not what I want.

This is down to 2 major things: First of all they’re all set inside dark and usually cramped spaces. And the way they play is basically solo dungeons. As a world content player, that is not how I want to spend my time at endgame. I hope they’ll make more open feeling Delves in the future at least. They don’t all have to be caves or sewers, you know?

So far the gearing up again has just been more boring than any other season in previous expansions (even the bad ones like Shadowlands). I’m feeling the mechanics of it too much. It doesn’t come across as organic and a natural part of the gaming experience. I’m not exactly sure why this is the case this time.

Bugs. There’s several bugs in delves (like pulling mobs that are on different levels, having them teleport up). There’s also a bunch of bugs with hunter pets at the moment. It’s becoming quite annoying and it has really put a damper on the whole experience.

Not sure if it’s a bug, but: This week I’ve done 7 Delves. Not had a Delver’s Bounty drop. That doesn’t seem right?

So all in all so far this season has not been good for me. It seems like the next patch will be released sooner rather than later, which is good. If we just keep moving this thing along, it’ll be over sooner.

Yeah, I’m at that stage. I’m ready for the next expansion. I’m sick of underground stuff mainly. There’s some fun stuff coming that’ll hopefully make the wait feel better.

What has your experience been with the season so far?

with dvelves ? super positive  runing t11 on 4 chars atm and having a blast with free gear :stuck_out_tongue:

Or anything regarding this season, really.
My view is limited due to the type of content I do, so people sharing their own experiences from their viewpoint is always interesting.

I like the delves as well, even though they are easy. Im not good and i can solo 11 with all lifes left.

Hi Tah!

I haven’t done much delves yet in S2, but when I am back home, I will be diving into them again to just gear up my Dracthyr and Warrior to suffer less in our raids and get ready for heroic raiding.

I personally haven’t ran into bugs yet while doing them, but I do want to see more open delves and not just cave variation #3546567

Personally I’m happier with Delves this season than in Season 1.

The two new Delves show an improvement in design and pacing over the initial batch, and the adjustments made to existing Delves mostly feel like positive improvements.

Overall, the state of delves currently has me interested to how the feature will be iterated on in Midnight, where the designers have more experience building this content with a wholly fresh slate.

For the classes I am focussing on - WW Monk, MM Hunter, Ret Paladin, Havoc and Outlaw - they mostly all feel pretty good. Rogue still needs a rework and I’m hoping Blizzard is cooking something on that front, given how few changes the class got going into Season 2.

The MM Hunter rework feels pretty good - it feels bursty and running Delves without a pet feels far more comfortable than I imagined it would.

The Delver’s Bounty change also feels good, I had one the entire first season but now I’m typically seeing them on each alt by the 3rd or 4th Delve of the week.

Underpin fight seems a bit more gimmicky than Zekvir, who was more of a mechanics and disciplinary test by comparison - but I’ll not be throwing myself into beating that encounter until I am better geared later in the season.

Welcome back. I wondered where you were !

FYI: I also took a break.

So far so good. The gearing aspect looks complicated (Delves is not the only place this is the case) but I disagree with your assesment.

I completly ignore everything related to gear. I just get drops, look if ilvl is higher or not, if I like the stats it has. Wear it (or not) and sell the other peice. Done.

All that business with crests and stuff is irrelevant to me. Every once in a while I go to the upgrade guy and upgrade stuff. With currency that could have magically appeared in my bag for all I care.

I am having fun in M+. More fun than in S1.

Although, I might change opionion if Blizzard dosent keep a fast tuning cadence and leaves us for months with out it. Or if +12 keys and above turn out to be another slog like in S1.

The only reason I’m playing World of Warcraft as much as I am currently is that, from what I read, you’re now able to max out Heroic tracked through Delves.

It’s a path forward to get decent gear solo, I couldn’t care any less if it’s fun or not.

I do agree they need to do more with open-world activities for solo players, and reward players for their time and not just the difficulty of the content they are doing.

Overall, Undermine is a bad version of Korthia so far.

Well, delves are dungeons – that’s how Blizzard themselves first described it. I reckon, it’s something to be expected, that these dungeons were all placed underground and turned out to be caves given what themes this whole expansion is dedicated to…

But if they rebrended delves, gave them a new name or something, it might be fun to “delve” into glades and beaches instead of caves and sewers! I’m interested to see how they’ll further develop the concept in Midnight.

I like them so far. Even those that I didn’t like in the last season! They aren’t challenging anymore, but it’s cool. Not everything must be sweaty and dangerous.

Years? They were introduced in TWW.
You mostly complain about YOU not liking delves.
You can get a total of 21 Gilded Undermine Crest each week which are used to upgrade heroic and mythic track gear on level 11. What else do you want?
What’s the max level you’ve completed?

To be fair, not all dungeons are mazes.

Some like Nokud are open air. So Tah does have a point. There is no reason instanced content cannot be open.

So far, S2 is very relaxed for me and I love it a lot. I have done all the preparation/start up activities, 2.5k RIO, full Hc raid clear and all delves on t11 and got PvP gear ready (entry level). I enjoyed everything a lot, perhaps more than last season and I am asking myself what is the secret ingredient this time.

I really enjoy the dungeons, I have way more fun in them than I had in S1. I never liked Mists, the Azj dungeons were not my favorite, now I got 8 dungeons I like, and even Darkflame.

Darkflame to me has the Brackenhide feeling. At start of DF, I was like, how is this going to be fun in M+ ? Now Brackenhide is my favorite wow dungeon.

And Darkflame is really made into something I enjoy, so good job done there.

The new area, I spent time in first week, now probably just doing weeklies but I don’t like the car.

I am taking it slowly, since many people want to do 10s ifrst week, get their KSM asap, 2500+, and then… “why is the season taking so long?” .

So far S2 is a vast improvement over S1 in every way.

  • M+ is a lot better. S1 was terrible in comparison. ToP and Workshop are really unfortunate choices; they are as boring as I thought they will be, but the rest of it is fine so that 6/8
  • So far tanking seems a lot better. S1 felt like an unmitigated disaster in this sense with its constant oneshots from basically nothing.
  • The open world content has its feeling, I like Undermine and D.R.I.V.E. works well with that map.
  • The main quest line could have been a little longer or more elaborate, it ended so soon. Xal’atath should be added to the Transmorpher Beacon toy with her “You gave it to the ethereals?!” line.
  • Delves are pretty much the same to me. I wish we had a brann-free mode for the Underpin fight as he still keeps standing in everything.

Blizzard really should stop borking every first season, because it just makes them lose players. If one starts in S2, they will have a lot better experience, than someone else who did S1 first.
