TLDR - World Quest and Gold Nerfs are bad…
Ok its time to talk about these two topics and its impact on the game.
First off the World Quests - There appears to have been a shift in how WQ appear in TWW moving from a twice weekly reset to a daily reset. In DF there were 2 key WQ resets each week on Wednesday and Saturday where a significant amount of WQs rotated, there were also daily ones added to Zaralek Cavern and the Emerald Dream and the Dragon Riding quests were 2 per zone, twice weekly.
Fast forward to TWW and the same twice-weekly reset is occurring but the volume of WQ is none existent in comparison, very few Dragon Racing quests, WQ that seem to take an age, and poor rewards (we will get to that don’t worry). My question is what is the reason for this undocumented change? WQ are the ‘something to do’ and is part of peoples play style and means of currency acquisition.
Secondly currency acquisition or gold drops from WQ’s. Since pre-patch all forms of gold from WQ have been nerfed as much as 75%! This is an extreme reduction and again an undocumented change. Now when I look at doing the Dragon Racing WQ I think why bother the reward isn’t worth it and I log off.
For many players, WQ gold is how they sustain themselves in the Wow economy and have just had their source of income or game ‘salary’ reduced by a huge amount.
You could argue go and do the profession and AH grind but this is a significant time investment, not to mention a lot of people do not play Wow to play some economy simulator on an AH that is battered from addons such as TSM (addon should be banned IMO as its basically botting).
How to fix this? Given all of what I have mentioned has been completely undocumented in patch notes why not just reverse it and give players what they want?
Finally, on a skeptical side note, I wonder if this is Blizzard’s (Micro$oft’s) attempt to push revenues via Wow token sales…would not surprise me.
