If Illidan ever returns can we really expect him not to go on a horde leader killing spree?
The man gave everything he had to protect his people and in no world can I see him just letting the genocide just slide.
If(or when) he does come back can anyone really even stop him aside from Tyranda(which she shouldn’t, honestly)?
Alliance got Illidan, Horde got the Zandalari-Empire
No matter how strong he is, there’s no chance he can kill Sargeras, so I don’t think he’d be returning.
Well, he doesn’t really need to kill Sargeras as far as I know. He’s acting as his jailer more than anything.
Since the titans are alive again, I don’t imagine that he’ll stay there forever. When they’re back at full power (which, granted, will take some time probably) he could have a chance to return.
Also, there are theories floating around that Sargeras will be unleashed to face Zovaal. In that case Illidan will also be freed from his jailer duty.
In any case I don’t see Illidan, Sargeras and the Pantheon staying out of the story forever. So at some point he’s bound to find out about what horde had done. And if it’s not 1000’s(maybe not even then since illidan is very vindictive) of years in the future or after the horde and illiance have made piece I don’t see him letting go.
If or when he comes back and he learns what happened… I doubt he’d blame the Horde entirely but Sylvanas should she survive the Shadowlands and return to Azeroth better get used to sleeping with both eyes open because he’d definitely come for her.
And if she returns to the Horde there isn’t anyone is powerful enough to stand in his way either. Thalyssra PERHAPS but I doubt she’d care enough to risk her life for Sylvanas.
But characters like Illidan and the way his Illidari worked together is why the War of the Thorns and BFA made no sense post Legion.
That being said, I would LOVE to have a scene like this with Sylvanas instead of Gul’dan.

Illidan wouldnt care. He would kill Sylvanas potentially but not anyone else. He has kind of proven to be the only night elf with a functioning brain.

About ten heavily armoured soldiers backed up with ranged missile weapon support. Chuck in some Spellcasters. Yeah. They could take him down pretty easy actually.
Plus, fighting with twin Warglaives, he’s going to have done most of the damage to himself before anyone else hits him. There’s a reason nobody does that. It’s because you -can’t-. No, Demon Hunter Ninjamatics won’t save you there…that is such a ridiculous weapon combo that only an edgy teen at their first LARP would find it a good look, until someone took them to one side and said “Shall we have a talk about practical weaponry, you’ve just lost three characters…”
If he -is- indestructible, then we can just add him to the list of ridiculously powered ‘Alliance’ characters.
He also should be dead already…
But on a more serious note…
He won’t care. He either is, or is not a Demon Hunter. If he -is- a Demon Hunter, then he just is not going to care, to be honest… What do the dead at Teldrassil matter to him? Why should he care?
But yeah, to be honest, he’s just another brooding anime character who would be taken apart in seconds by any solid unit…
