I was certain you didn’t have reading comprehension problems, Tyrande.
But it seems you missed the contents of my post completely- I actually wrote I want our own story progression/ lore without Night Elf taint…alas for your “get your own” I have little say in it, since it isn’t me writing or making decisions.
As for Hamuul- That’s again, exactely, what I wrote, minus that I actually want him to be an overbloated powercreep like Malfurion. In my opinion, the story does not need more Malfurion Stormrages, it needs less. If he’s only a great character because he can do ‘OP feats’, then he isn’t an interresting character and won’t work in any serious setting.
Malfurion’s not even THAT much OP actually, he almost died because of an axe in his back which is both hilarious and pathetic for a being so much old. Same for Sylvanas and Jaina who got shot by an enemy with a rifle and both almost died because of that (Jaina was healed by Chi-Ji, Sylvanas because of the Val’kyrs)
Powerlevels of the characters actually mean nothing and can change to suit the needs of the story. If Blizzard wanted, Hamuul could actually become more powerful than Malfurion so there’s not a lot of sense discussing this.
You can’t have druid lore without people like Malfurion, with random nameless NPC, it is like saying I want Sunwell lore without Blood Elves. If anything they’ll add Hamuul and/or Vol’jin for the Horde and Malfurion/Tyrande for the Alliance, regardless it is still early and they only confirmed Tyrande.
I referring to his power in order to make a point. We are traveling to a different dimension,facing a variant of the Emerald Dream,as well as an empowered Sylvanas Windrunner, and finally beings that control death itself and you want random druid#32 to be leading the expedition?
Yet he defeated Sylvanas even after years of having been gulping souls.
you would nearly die with an axe in your back to in a lore cutscene so don’t act tough sorceress your only as mighty as the plot demands how many times we have been stunned or captured … way to many times
hey remember that time jaina yelled enough stunning the whole raid and teleporting away
I am deeply concerned that the following will happen:
Malfurion will be one of the alliance heroes that gets stuck in the Maw when we go to shadowlands;
Tyrande’s quest for revenge take the backseat while she pines for him;
Something to do with Ardenweald reaffirms her faith in Elune/gives Elune a pass for not helping them enough (in Tyrande’s current opinion);
Malfurion is rescued and Tyrande reverts from her Night Warrior state because of love/balance/Elune;
“revenge isn’t important anymore lets go back to Darkshore my nightbredren and sistren”;
The End;
If Night Elves have to be the focus then i’d prefer if we weren’t holding Tyrande’s hand while she looks for her man again.
I completely agree that Night Elves are the de facto “druids” but i would argue - even using the old lore - that the trolls voodoo is the natural predecessor to druidism. Night Elves worshiped the loa long before they stumbled upon the Well of Eternity and their reverence of wild gods continued. What changed was their methods and the inclusion of Elune’s influence (a being trolls still refer to as a Loa). Trolls were able to turn themselves into animals and borrow power from nature long before the Darkspear became Druids in cata but the way trolls acquired the ability was fundamentally different (traditionally focused on borrowing from a single loa vs the balance promoted in Elune’s druidism etc)
As Night Elves have been the “de facto” druids and guardians of nature (by their own charge) it would be nice to see them confronted with some of the catastrophic failures that have occurred under said charge. This place is being billed as the “dark mirror of the Emerald Dream” and I’d like to see some denizens of nature that have a different take on the Night Elves.
They are responsible for the shattering of the world after the war of the ancients;
They went against explicit orders from the Dragon Aspects (who helped clean up their previous mess) and planted a World Tree in Northrend above a deposit of Saronite;
Allowed the Old Gods into the Emerald Dream and created the Emerald Nighmare which has caused the death and corruption of countless living things, most notably Ysera;
If you dont want your lore to keep getting changed then fine but that means all of it and there is plenty that the Night Elves would rather the rest of the world forgot. There isn’t a single playable faction that has done more to harm Azeroth than the Night Elves with the exception of whatever Sylvanas is currently planning however she has been villain batted hard whilst the Nelves have never answered for anything.
First of all Blizzard did not told that there will be no Horde/Alliance druids. In fact they told that there will be Drust druids story.
But common, “Night Fae”, it’s obviously that Night Fae somehow related to Night Elves. Maybe to Elune, and Night Elves creation.
We know that magic waters of the Well transformed trolls in to Night Elves. But magic does not do such things on their own will. It’s just a power. Obviously someone have used that magic to create Night Elves from trolls. But who? Maybe we will find the answers.
Regarding Tyrande. Blizzard just told that Tyrande will play a big roll. Why not? Why so much hate? This is third expansion where Sylvanas is a main character in all cinematics. Blizzard decided to give some role in 1 location to Tyrande, and so much hate from the Horde… Like seriously? Lets delete Alliance maybe from the game at all? Then you will be happy?
Anyway Tyrande probably will just try to save her race by trying to resurrect her people using Night Fae magic. And she will need heroes who can enter the maw, and rescue trapped souls from there. That will be just a small part of that location story.
Probably only Alliance heroes will do it as local quests. But even if Horde players will do it also, is it so illogical? There were so many Horde characters who were against the Burning of Teldrassil. Horde players now have chance to repay the dept and rescue back to life those dead children. To transform from a villain to a hero.
What you expect Tyrandes answer will be? Like - “Hey, you want to rescue my race from dying, but I will not allow you to do that, because you was on Sylvanas side at the beginning”? Seriously? Probably her answer be like “Ok, you can try to repay the dept, but if you will die, I will not miss you”.
The tone of this bit is rather rich coming from someone that has complained non-stop for most of BfAs expansion.
And I don’t understand what you find irksome about this complaints. This is something that harms Tyrandes character too.
Don’t you realise that having Tyrande play a neutral or dominant role will inevitably have her tag along Horde players too?
That she will be toned down in order to make up a more acceptable companion for Horde players, and will probably mean she will be changed and forced to forgive the faction for the slights you’ve been arguing all the time that she should have?
And besides that, yeah, the complains are still valid.
Horde players shouldn’t be forced to tag along Alliance characters whenever there is some neutral plot to save the world.
Specially not after having their latest spotlight being that of a villain.
This is a recurrent theme that has been going on since the end of Cata.
Because yeah, people screamed bloody murder for that one time they had to aid Thrall.
So I’m sorry, but maybe it’s time another segment of the playerbase said enough questing for Malfurion, Tyrande, Velen, Magni, Khadgar, Alleria, Turalyon, Brann,…
Yeah, I don’t need Night elves hogging the attention in a place that is supposed to be neutral grounds. They aren’t the only ones with natural ties.
And I’m not saying Night elves shouldn’t get their share. They certainly deserve it.
But the zone is supposed to appeal to a lot of other people. Trolls, Tauren, Zandalari,…
Giving the entire thing to a single Alliance character, again? No thanks.
She was a background character in both Legion and BfA. This is the first time Blizzard features her as main of anything. And yeah I have no problem with Tyrande getting something good. It was obvious they would do more with all that Nightwarrior stuff.
Uh yes but considering that no race has ever been destroyed that much in the history it’s the very least that they get some positive attention at some point.
We don’t even know if it’s positive attention. Maybe they will be punching bags for the horde again when there are no other npcs left to kill.
Bit of an hyperbole don’t you think?
I can think of at least another race that has had recently their capitol raided, their lands destroyed, and their leader dead or gone for good. Several in fact.
So no, that’s no excuse to demand a story that goes in detriment of others.
Accept this fact already: Night elves do not hold the monopoly of Druidism and nature.
If Blizzard introduces an area around said concept, there are others that must come to benefit from it.
This. From a gameplay point of view it really sucks to see your race and culture excluded from areas that they should have a rightful place. Theres no reason at all that Tyrande cant have a meaningful story arc in this zone AND for us to touch upon the loa via Rezan etc. My only issues would be if Tyrande is the only non-shadowlands character of interest in a zone for both horde and alliance players and if her story doesn’t get a few extra dimensions beyond Malfurion, Elune and vengeance.
From a lore point of view it would be baffling for there to not at least be something to do with the other more neutral or horde leaning natural forces. Loa have existed in wow since the beginning and it was confirmed long ago that they are just wild gods known by different names and worshiped in different ways. It’s been confirmed that wild gods are linked to the dream and go there to prepare for rebirth and we lost a total of 3 loa throughout the Zandalar story campaign.
tl;dr both the lore and basic player experience would support the inclusion of more than just night elf stuff in this zone and i think at this point wow should be capable of giving something to both factions without taking away from the other.
Kyrians: - Main hero will be Uther, and human like zone (+1 to Alliance zones).
Necrolords: - Main hero will be Thrall’s mother, and forsaken like zone (+1 to the Horde zones).
Venthyr - Main hero is prince Kael’thas, and blood elves like zone (+1 to the Horde).
Night Fae - Main hero is Cenarius, neutral.
So, it’s will be right thing if Night Elves and Tyrande will play main role in this location. Balance.
btw just for info, Druids is classic Night Elves class. On Alpha testing of Classic, taurens did not had Druids class. Because its was Night Elves unique thing. They are first Druids, all other races got Druids after that.
Which race has suffered as much losses as the night elves? There is none.
They are so destroyed as a race that there is no recovery for them at the moment. The forsaken, for example, could just find a new capital and everything would be as it used to be.
