Ukrainian language on Activision Blizzard websites and in the battle.net application

I mean, it’s not unusual to see the lipsyncing being off, cuz the original version uses pretty much THE WHOLE different language, isn’t it?

Yeah, the german dubbing from my POV is sometimes not really good (I speak some german and that is my opinion, don’t wanna offend anyone or something). I tried movies, several TV shows, and WoW in german during Legion, and it’s not that for me.
However, the game is different in this regard. First of all, there is no lipsyncing to be done for quest dialogues, hell, even some cutscenes don’t need it at all. So that takes one layer of difficulty away. And let’s be real, have you heard Tree Boss in AA dubbing? This is ridiculously horrible, the female voice in particular.

The thing is i have never seen a good dubbing ever. german, french, italian, czech, polish and english dubbing all sound terrible to me.Its not just the german ones. And lets not forget that alot of jokes in shows for example often get lost in translations because they simply dont work in another language

Yeah, while that is true too, it’s really great to see, how voice actors and translators approach this issue within the limits of their languages.

And I swear the God, Ukrainian actors are amazing at this. I’ve watched a lot of movies in Ukrainian after watching their original versions and some idioms were top-notch. The Killer’s Bodyguard dubbing, for example, is HILLARIOUS. It’s the way how they play around the Samuel Jackson’s extensive use of the “mf-word”, substituting it with HILARIOUS curses that are even more on point than the original version.

It’s rare to see this level of dubbing, I agree, but if we gave enthusiasts an opportunity to shine, we’d all win.

As a big fan of Blizzard games, I look forward to Ukrainian localization for these great games likeWow or Diablo series. But I understand that it is impossible to do it all at once. Having at least access to the site in the Ukrainian language and being able to make purchases in the Blizzard store in the Ukrainian language would be a huge step toward your audience

I hope they will hear us

Shall we call it an invasion?

If you decide to add the Ukrainian language to your games, it would be a big step towards developing your company and promoting your products among Ukrainian gamers. I believe you understand the importance of promoting linguistic diversity and supporting the languages of countries where your products are popular.

I rly know I thread on a thin line here but I have to be honest in my opinion…

What makes Ukrainian most deserving European community to get full WoW localization?

Just because a lot of people speak Ukrainian does not mean there is a large WoW community that does.

Don’t get me wrong, I am all for localization I think everybody should be able to play the game in their own language, but I just do not rly think it’s a realistic thing to do if the community that plays the game is not that large.

If you do not want to play on Russian Servers there are European servers that are mainly on English and you will be welcomed there.

Well… Obviously the Russians attempting to erease ukranian identity part during this war is a huge reason.

IF this thread was genuine… But after Luna’s reveal honestly. Its hard to tell if this is real or a Russian propeganda bot at work to make ukrainians look bad. With all these upvotes and posts. coming of characters that have never posted before.

Either every Ukranian wow player decided to post and upvote this for the first time today. Or we’re all in some serious bot trouble…

Reason for what? Localization in video game?

You know we are talking about “VIDEO GAME” here, yes one of the largest true, but its still a video game. Honestly if I was Ukrainian I would be offended by what you just wrote, it indicates that nation needs a video game company to save its identity, that is just borderline stupid.

After everything you have seen on this forum. As I am sure you have…
Is it really that stupid? is it really?

If you where a Ukranian and your country and family where invaded and murdered like we have all seen. I really don’t think they would care if its a video game or not.

If i was a ukranian id want no association with Russia… least of all their language after all they have done.

You damn well know its not us in the west who decides any narrative… Considering we are allowed to have different opinions over here without getting killed for them.

Only Russians fear murder and jail for speaking against the war. And we know this to be true.

How can we in the west. Who believes in free press and freedom of speech. Believe anything comming out of any Russian. Knowing that they are not even allowed free speech without fear of their own life and freedom? Do you see what I mean?

blizzard, that would be great  :ukraine:

What does this thesis have to do with the statement about this post being a Russian propaganda? :man_facepalming:

Also, a perfect example of how propaganda works BOTH ways

It’s pretty self explanatory… No matter how much i want to believe you. I as a westerner. Born and raised with freedom of speech. cannot possibly take any russian word for anything. I cannot believe you are free to speak your mind. After everything ive seen of what happens when you do.

That’s EXACTLY how propaganda works both ways. Way to go, fella, way to go

Long time ago all East Europe players was move out from English EU servers by nice “deal” from Blizz, because of russ “friendly” players. All think that russ=all East European But we are not! Now day we fight against russian tyranny in real life and still use russian language in game interface, let change it. All world help Ukraine and World of Warcraft is not exception or not? ?

I stand by what I say… our propeganda can at least be spoken against. You know im not making this up when I say you can’t. I don’t blame any russians for any of this… If i lived under such a regime. I’d shut the hell up too.

I have seen enough war footage of this war to make me a pacifist for life. And I genuinely feel bad for all the young ones who have to die. For this
