Having just returned to wow a few months ago I have properly enjoyed playing through the legion content which story wise I thought was exceptional (shame i didnt get to play it while it was going on).
I am confused about certain elements of BFA though now that i am playing through it, mostly Uldir, how exactly does this raid exist and why should i go there? anyone know???
It’e effectively a Horde only raid. The story of G’huun, the Blood Trolls, and the seals that held it all at bay is told over the course of the Horde quests there, most heavily in Nazmir, but also in Vol’dun and Zulduzar, and the finale you get to see after finishing all 3 zones. For Alliance there really isn’t much of a background to see.
But to the lore itself… Basically it’s just an old titan research facility into the old gods that was closed off and sealed, when the stuff got too dangerous. They experimented with void energies as well as Loa bodies, and some pretty sick stuff came out, that wasn’t exactly healthy for anything, most of all the big blob G’huun itself. Through typical void stuff, visions of inevitable bad futures and promises of power, G’huun aquired followers who broke the seals on Uldir for him. So the Horde goes in and kills everything that’s in there.
No, it doesn’t have any connection to the BfA main plot at all. But neither did Highmaul further the Iron Horde plot, or the Emerald Nightmare further the Legion invasion plot. The first raids of an addon are often kind of throwaway, plotwise.
