Ultimate Penitence at Balakar Khan intermission not working properly?

Dear Blizzard Support Team,
while fighting Balakar Khan I tried to use Ultimate Penitence with my discipline priester in the intermission phase.
I still had him in target but in this phase he is shielded.
The tooltip does not include any information about that the whole thing does not work when castin on an immue target, but the effect was I just hit him with bolts with no effect due to the shield but also my party memebers did not get any healing bolts cast at them.
This happened twice in consecutive tries.
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to try it again with an add targeted yet.

My question: is that an intended behavior of the cast?

Cheers

That is intended. Ultimate Penitance works the same as penance but a bit more “smart”. If you target an enemy, it will do damage and if the current target dies/goes out range etc, it will look to do damage to other targets that it can hit. If you target a friendly player it will heal, if the person it’s healing gets to full health/goes out of range etc, it will then move to others who need healing.

Unfortuntely absorbs/immunities will still absorb all the damage and as it’s doing no damage, nothing will transfer through to healing via attonement. Works this way with Pala bubble, Grounding Totem etc in PvP too.

Atonement heals based on damage done.

Boss takes no damage, its obvious you’ll do no healing from that ability.

So of course its intended.
