Unable to battle wild pets in Legion and BfA zones

As the title says, I’m unable to battle any wild pets in Legion and BfA zones. Even the Pet Trainers doesn’t show up on my map as they do in every other zone. I haven’t tried battling any trainers in these zones yet, but I will do so the next time I log on.

Every single wild pet I’ve seen since I reached level 100 has been a level 1 critter that’s unavailable for pet battle.

Are there any prerequisites for unlocking pet battles in these zones? I would really like to start catching some as they are needed for achievements.

I’ve been searching for an answer online for hours and have posted on both the forums here and on Reddit, but I can’t find any information - much less an answer or solution.

Not every critter is battle pet, some are just critters level 1, my advice is to turn on battle pet show on minimap. I suppose this is just bad luck, never heard of such issue.

I know that not all of them are battle pets. But not encountering a single one for the past 14 levels I’ve spent in Legion and BfA zones? We are talking hours here.

I have turned on Show Battle Pets on the minimap. Battle pets just don’t exist for me in Legion and BfA zones. Furthermore, as soon as I take my Hearthstone back to Orgrimmar, battle pets start to pop up all over the place again. Up to and including Draenor and they show up as normal, anything after and they are noticeably absent.

Hi there!

It might be relevant that you haven’t completed the Pet Battle trainers after Outland, so you may want to go and finish up the last few quests and battles you need.

The pet battles are there though. You may want to check that your Learning the Ropes quest hasn’t been reset somehow on the Orgrimmar trainer.
