Unable to log in or reinstall WOW - launcher keeps hanging at 10% file download

Hello, I would really appreciate some advice on a problem with my wifes PC.
We both play WOW, and have had the game installed on our respective PCs for about 2 years without any significant incident or issue.

• We both simultaneously played as recently as last night (UK time).
• We both use the same network.
• We both use the same anti-virus software on our respective PCs

Today, I was able to log in absolutely fine to my account and proceed into the game. She tried to log in, and was unable to access battle.net – it kept indicating that it was downloading files, but nothing happened.

When clicking on it, we then got the message that it was unable to communicate (blizzard agent went to sleep – error ending in 0005). I have tried logging in on my own battle.net account on her PC and an identical error occurs.

We followed the advice listed on the technical support pages – we have:
• Done multiple restarts of the PC
• turned off security programmes and the virus software
• She does not use any addons so this does not apply
• We use an ethernet cable directly into the network router, which sits next to her PC.
• We have restarted the router.
• We have tried uninstalling the battlenet app and reinstalling it.
• We watched the technical support video about various types of router changes and
DNS flushing and have carried all of this out.

The problem when we try to reinstall is that the PC asks us if we want to make changes, we click yes and the programme downloads and begins installation.

The screen then shows a progress bar saying ‘downloading new files’ and hangs at the 10% point without any progress further. It keeps getting stuck there without moving on.

I’ve found a notepad file with logs, and in one failed install the log states that after starting the install it got the message “DOWNLOAD_ERR_NOT_AVAILABLE and then starts to show errors – I’ve tried to copy it as an image to this shot.

The summary then is that after years of working, my wifes PC has ceased to be able to access the Blizzard launcher, or any of the games that she subscribes to. We’re desperate for help (she’s on target to get 24,000 achievement points soon and really wants to make progress) so any wise Blizz wisdom you could offer would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there, Bellandrius!

So there’s a few things to try to resolve that. Firstly, please fully close the Blizzard App, and any Blizzard games, and then uninstall the App as per this guide:

Next, please delete all the Blizzard App files, some of which may be left over after uninstallation, by following this guide:

Finally, please download and install the App again via this link:

Once you’ve done that, please try running it again and sign in! You may find it does a number of updates, but that should hopefully fix things.

Yours,

Arythwinn
