Hello.
Ran into an issue trying to pay a 1month sub to WoW.
The funds are reserved on my bank account from the mastercard payment through your website but I got an email saying the subscription has been frozen.
What’s going on?
Not sure what’s going on, but some banks are having trouble setting up recurring subscriptions. If you buy game time instead, that should probably work.
I’ve had the same bank for a long time and have never had a problem setting up a subscription to WoW before.
Same card for a while too.
So I doubt that’s what’s going on. Thanks for the input tho.
Hey Valkiá,
When you set up a subscription it’s common for the funds to be placed in reserve in what’s known as an authorization hold while the actual payment completes.
It sounds like the payment was rejected in this case, and you’ll need to check with your payment provider for more info as to why and then give it another try.
Reserved funds are released again automatically, normally in just a few days but again your bank will be able to tell you more.
You can read more about this here: Paid a Subscription But My Account is Still Inactive, as well as Credit Card Charged for Failed Order.
If the payment was rejected by my bank or card why would they allow the funds to be reserved, to my knowledge when if that was the case the funds wouldn’t even be reserved either.
Like I said I’ve had the same card for a long time and the same bank for an even longer time and been subscribed to this game for many years so I don’t think my bank would suddenly think a charge from Blizzard would be thought of as fraudulent or such by my bank.
Same thing happened to me. Had the same bank for years, then all of a sudden recurring subscriptions stopped working - everything from WoW to patreon.
I’ve removed my mastercard as a payment option as I read in one of your articles that this might help resolve the issue, however when I try to submit my payment information again I get an error saying “Internal server error” or somesuch once more leading me to believe the fault is not with me or my bank, but somewhere on your end.
The error message reads:
Zounds!
An internal error occurred. Try again a bit later. If you see this message repeatedly, [let us know].
Tried in another browser and with another credit card and I get the extremely helpful and very descriptive message of
“An error occured.”
Any help here would be… Well, helpful. And appreciated.
There are some countries that have had problems making subscriptions if they are not in dollars due to local restrictions.
I live in Denmark so I doubt there’s something like that going on.
I seem to have gotten through the errors by brute forcing every 15min for the last few hours as my latest attempt suddenly went through.
Guessing some system somewhere was choked up handling transactions and have caught up now.
I now have 2 charges of 1 month ‘reserved’ on my credit card though but I guess the first failed one will stay reserved until the reserving is lifted and it goes back to my account properly.
