As of this evening I am unable to play multiple games from the Battle.net launcher.
WoW Classic, WoW Retail, Warcraft 3 Reforged, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2 and Heroes of the Storm fail to launch from the Launcher. Hearthsone is the only game that successfully launches.
Even attempting to launch directly from the .exe fails, assuming the game has an accessible .exe, many don’t.
Everything was fine with WoW as of this afternoon, but when I attempted run retail after Remix launched, the issues began. A full screen application attempts to open, but the screen is black until I attempt to interact with it, it then goes white and a windows “ is not responding” message appears.
I don’t have many non-Blizzard games on this PC, but the two I do have (Tomb Raider 2013 from the GOG Galaxy Launcher and Planetside 2) start up just fine.
No changes were made to my system between this afternoon and my first attempts after remix launched. When the issues started, I updated graphics drivers and did a ‘scan and repair’ as well as checking for updates manually. None worked.
There was a Windows 11 update yesterday, but since I managed to play WoW after that happened, I assume that’s not the issue, but I’ve not ruled it out.
Adding the command line -d3d11 also doesn’t fix the issue.
Uninstalling Sophos did work. Solved.
