Unable to post links

I´ve had to remove the link to our forum from the guild recruitment thread. Is there a way use external links in posts ?

Apparently the forums use a trust system. You can’t post links until you earn a higher “trust” level.

Unfortunately I have no idea how the trust levels work, or where you can see your current trust level.

Quote from the US Forums on trust level requirements and privileges:

As for how to check your own trust level, there’s no place on the forums itself that display it sadly. You needed to look through a special .json file to find out, but i’ve now created a tool to do it for you:

Thank you, Grimmj. Do you know where or how I can see my own json file? While I appreciate you creating that site, I am a webcoder myself, so I’d actually like to poke at the json file myself.

The URLs for characters’ .json files follow this pattern:
https://[region].forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/u/[name]-[realm].json
where for the realm name, spaces are converted into hyphens (-) and quotes (') are removed, so that pozzo dell’eternita becomes pozzo-delleternita.

For your character, this is the url:
https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/u/trovlak-aggramar.json
The trust levels are groups, each of them named trust_level_X. look for the one with the highest number and that’s the trust level you’ve got.

These are your .json file contents:

Specifically, these are your groups:

You are a member of both trust_level_0 and trust_level_1, so that means you are TL1.

According to this i should be One like away from level 2 yet i am still 0. And that as a 12 years frequent Poster. If Blizzards doesn’t want me to post here they could have sent me an E-Mail…

I could post links the first few days of the new forums. Now I can’t anymore.

So yes, what happened here? (not asking you btw, just asking in general, if anyone happens to know).

EDIT: Nvm… Found the answer in a previous reply, doh;

“* Create links and video embeds to trusted websites like Blizzard websites, YouTube, or Twitch”

I posted a YouTube video in my example.

You can post unclickable links by slapping code-brackets around it.

how did you mark the post as a solution? :open_mouth:

When you create a thread you have several buttons after each persons post. One of them is for marking an answer as a solution

You’re not reading the .json correctly. you are member of both trust_level_0 and trust_level_1, thus you are trust level 1.

I’d advise you use the trust checker tool i’ve created a while back: trustlevelchecker.jodk.nl. It will show you your trust level for all your characters.

I’d advise the backtick instead. much easier

This is actually Really nice. I was hoping for someone to make something like this. Even though it is again kinda sad that we have to rely on third Party Websites i order to get Information…

Since the new format started? Everyone got a clean slate with the new forums as far as I’m aware so don’t give up hope.

Should just make unclickable links the default functionality tbh. It’s rather redundant that you have to do time-gated forum “leveling” to post links without annoying hoops.

my problem is, that the forum tries to automatically convert it and so not allowing the link at all for a lower level user. how about if a low trust level user posts a link like that, it would only show an unclickable text of the link instead the material itself so you don’t have to manually edit the link?
