so i bought a piece of blue elemental storm gear, and i have the sigils to upgrade to epic, so i went to the new upgrade dude (corxian) but when i try to complete the upgrade i get a red error message telling me the item cannot be modified. what do, blizz?

War Mode and Primal Storms gear are no longer be upgradeable by trading gear and upgrade currency (Trophies of Strife, Storm Sigils) at the previous vendors (Malicia in the Gladiator’s Refuge and Rethelshi in the Sapphire Enclave). These items now use the other item upgrade vendors that Valor, Honor, and Conquest gear have used, such as Corxian in the Gladiator’s Refuge.

I have the same bug; its with both raging tempest gear AND drakebreakers at Corxian

same here im trying to upgrade boots with the primal storm currency to epic but he just says “this item cannot be upgraded anymore” same with all other pieces, i just upgraded one piece earlier today so something is broken

It seems to be bugged at this moment. I tried to upgrade one item on my alt just half an hour ago, and even i have the currency i get “item cannot be modified” message.
Make a bug report, let’s hope they fix it soon!

I’m going to assume it is a bug and wait a few days. I don’t see why they couldn’t have just left it as it was instead of fixing what wasn’t broken, to make it broken.

Yeah, what a genius move to not simply leave the other method in so that we actually get an overview of everything that is available and what it costs. Now it is all obscure and guesswork unless you very quickly made WoWhead screenshots before they dump that data for Rethelsi there.
That the new method is also bugged is just typical. How can they be so confident to remove the old system if the new one isn’t working? Now everything is unknown and vague.
Furthermore, the error message sounds as if it was planned and all the gear we invested in just became obsoleted shortly after the expac launched.
What a mess. … Again. … As usual.

I read the post, the article says can no longer use sigils. The opening post says they tried to use sigils. Icy Veins have since reworded their article…
I’m sorry if I misunderstood the issue, if the issues persist you’ll need to complete a bug report.
War Mode and Primal Storms gear obtained at level 70 prior to this patch will still be upgradeable. However, War Mode gear obtained pre-level 70, before the patch, will not be upgradeable.
New pre-level 70 gear obtained after the 10.0.5 patch went live will be upgradeable.
So if people bought the 359 gear, they’re probably lucky, unless there’s another relatively plannable way to get 385 gear. That is, lucky once Blizzard actually makes it work like they said it would for gear acquired before the patch.
But again, it’s not even half a year into the new expac, not even a quarter, and they’re already obsoleting a gear acquisition system. Reminds of the other bait-and-waste-time with the pre-launch event currency where suddenly the vendors vanished almost immediately after launch, as if full 252 gear at level 60 is intolerable in some way.
I’m getting a heavy vibe of nothing-matters right now. All the hassle is not worth it. Just relax, cruise, don’t do anything that feels like effort, and you’ll get screwed over a lot less.
You know, with the frequent patch rollouts lately, a decent dev company would have added info in-game that these vendors are going away soon. Something so that everybody get informed properly.
And now everything gets even more confuse with the new storms event that drops another kind of currency that is not really a currency but takes up bag space, and that’s now filling the jewelry slots not covered by the first storms gear that is now obsoleted. WoW is like frickin’ Adobe software.

Looks like it’s fixed!
Edit - hang on a minute, it’s still somewhat bugged. It’s telling me I can upgrade some of my base items much higher than I should be able to.
Darybreaker’s leggards apparently I can upgrade to 398 ilvl with 476 ilvl in battlegrounds and arenas. The upgrade on Daybreaker’s helm is only 385 with 421 as expected.
Seems there were more hotfixes

- The War Mode and Primal Storm vendors have returned for all of your upgrading needs.
Items and Rewards
- Crimson Gladiator’s Prestigious Cloak transmog now properly unlocks after earning Duelist: Dragonflight Season 1.
- Crimson Gladiator’s Tabard transmog now properly unlocks after earning Elite: Dragonflight Season 1.
- Crimson Gladiator’s Tabard can be purchased from Glamora in the Gladiator’s Sanctum within Valdrakken.
- Crimson Gladiator’s Prestigious Cloak and Crimson Gladiator’s Tabard appearances will be granted to players who have earned the appropriate requirements during Dragonflight Season 1.
- Developers’ note: For characters who have completed the appropriate requirements to earn the appearances during Season 1 may need to relog a few times to be added retroactively.
If it’s still not working properly I can only suggest submitting more bug reports.

Was worried as I bought the entire 359 set for my Hunter to upgrade then convert!
So can we safely buy the 359 gear again, now? Because they said only the ones bought before the patch can still be upgraded, but then what would storm sigils be for at this point?
