You hate WoW that much? Why are you here, then?
I’m also not sure how repairs, phials and pots counts as ‘everything’.

How did you conclude that, if removing the ability to buy gold with real money would mean the end of WoW, then that would a gloriously ironic way for it to die, death by the inability to skip actually playing the game.
Again…
How is not having to farm boring content that you don’t want to do ‘skipping’ playing the game?
That ‘boring content’ is the game, otherwise you’ve just described pay-to-win, thus finally concluding that WoW will die if you were unable to pay-to-win in it.
Nope, M+ and raid is the game. That’s where most time and money is spent.
For players from some countries it was the only option to buy game time or expansions, grind gold ingame and add to bnet balance to buy next xpac or buy game time.
Countries like mine for examply, have over the years messed up the exchange rate so much (in my country its due to corruption etc. ) that is was and for most is, impossible to buy game time or expansion with real money.
and please stop flaming others just because you have a comfortable life/income to not have to rely on game tokens!
Why? I can just buy a token and bypass that.
You seem to have come full circle, either the game is dead because you can’t buy your way past things, or the game is alive, because you can buy your way past things.
Perhaps the game just isn’t very good, if that is the case.
probably a bug
You are either being deliberately obtuse, or you don’t understand how endgame actually works.
I can easily spend 100k gold a month on REPAIRS ALONE. Add to that all the gold spent on phials and dps pots (used on CD) during a few hours of M+ and/or raiding every evening, and I’m getting through a token’s worth of gold every month just to do the content I want to do. That’s an extra 20€ a month I’m paying on top of the subscription without ever buying a boost.
How much time would I have to spend gold farming to make ~350k gold a month? I honestly have no idea, but what I do know is that it would take away from the time I currently spend actually playing the game because I don’t have extra time to spend gold farming.
It’s a pointless change if it’s not a bug. A QOL reduction that’s either down to wanting more real money sales in the cash shop, or some legal ruling that only affects Europe are possible other reasons, but a bug feels most likely
Pay-to-skip.
Anyway… I hope it’s a bug.
Yeah, I can’t see it being anything but a bug. If it was a legal ruling, they would have announced it ahead of time.
No, I generally am not, you’re paying to skip part of the game, paying to win. You are literally saying the game would die without the token, your words, not mine. Thus, and a simple conclusion, you are saying that without paying to win, WoW is dying.
That said, you nailed it, the token lets YOU do what YOU want to do, great. Guess what, the token totally invalidated anything others do as well, thus surprisingly we’d like it removed.
It won’t get removed, but you’ve just nailed a problem that WoW is fundamentally a game that you need to buy your way past the ‘boring’ parts in order to enjoy. Says more about the game than anything else.
Win/skip, same side of the coin where content gets invalidated.
I don’t agree. I wouldn’t pay for either of those things, mind you. But I definitely don’t view them as ‘the same’.
Pay for an advantage might be a better term.
Simple question for you: Can you name the 2 activities in WoW that you enjoy doing the most and also the 2 activities in WoW that you dislike the most?
Not everybody uses the token for what you call pay to win! do you actually read other people’s stuff?
I seriously hope it is a bug or a lot of us will not be able to play anymore in the future, A lot of us farm hours after hours to be able to buy tokens for reasons I noted in my previous post.
Most people in this game enjoy at least 1 of the following:
While you need gold for repairs etc, I don’t see it being a huge amount, I spend under 100k a month on flasks, potions, repairs etc, and it’s an amount I get back just by doing world quests, and selling mats on the AH.
The ability to earn in game gold and use it on the cash shop was a nice perk as a way to spend more and collect more things I can’t get otherwise, without spending real money.
Mmmmh… Is it really an advantage to skip content?
At endgame it’s definitely not an advantage; a disadvantage if anything.
Even a boost is artificially inflating your rating; it won’t give you any advantage finding a group (usually it’s pretty clear when someone was boosted) and if you do get a group; it’s not going to help you actually DO the content.
And if you ONLY get boosts to get ‘what you want’, then you’re extremly foolish imo; why would you pay for a game you don’t actually want to play? Makes zero sense.
