Undercity talk

So now that we’ve taken all the Blight in Capitol City:tm: and turned it into an NPC to kill, is anyone going to go back there to RP? I’m not sure what kind of changes to RP that entails, and whether or not it’s now habitable.

Are the sewers okay, or is it just the little courtyard area? Is the green fog gone now, or is the Cataclysm map just back to being canon now? I don’t have a sub right now, I can’t see for myself.

tl;dr Is UC okay now and is anyone considering going back to RP there?

You know what Im not even entirely sure, I cant recall any statement regarding the green goo being gone, and until the argents/cenarion lot get an update in terms of restoring certain swathes of Lordaeron, f knows, that being said Lordaeron is clearly quite an important aspect of the franchise, and with Calia being brought into the fold I wouldnt be shocked if Blizz does do some kinda update with Lordaeron in the next expac, but I also wont hold my breath

The elevators in the city are shut and the cave entrance is collapsed.

i.e inaccessible.

Yes. There’s some small puddles but the entire city and the swathe in front of it is safe again.

Still uses the BfA version of the city tho i’m pretty sure, and has a new little courtyard area at the orb of translocation along with some portals.

Absolutely is, and Brill is inhabited and being rebuilt.

and on top of all that i just want to emphasize that turning the blight into a big man and then beating up the big man is the wackiest, dumbest, most boring solution they could’ve possibly written there.

There you go then, OP, something is happening, and likely more will follow

I think RP in Brill might be more interesting at this point in the storyline with what we have seen from the quest, I think a lot of wholesome RP can spring and initiatves of general community RP of Forsaken stationed in Brill (plus imo Brill is beautiful)

But then again, it’s entire to my personal flavour/take
I personally would dare to think it’s still a bit too soon. because I’m not sure that the Blight just poofed when it’s gathered form was defeated… Must of been a pretyy strong vaccuum

It was. The city and the town are inhabited by NPCs again.

AD historically has had better RP initiatives in Brill than in UC so this isn’t as big of a deal as some might make of it.

Hrmm… I have a personal hard time understanding it, whilst I did like the aesthetic, I’m pretty sure when you defeat such a form there’s a lot of goop non animated remaining…

Then again it’s in Blizzards hands :eyes:

Nah we turned it into a big man and autoattacked it mission complete

Really not sure what Blizz were thinking when they decided to use said Blight Man™ instead of like, idk, red dragons that have been proven to be able to clean up such messes and that could act as a segue into the next expansion.

But no

Blight Man™

Because they wanted to make it clear that we’re not done with shadowlands and they learned 0

Watch as character deaths have zero meaning next expansion cus we can just pop into the realms of death and say hi.

We needed some more evidence how the Shadowlands will keep affecting the story even after every aspect of the expansion has been horribly received by the community.

Got a problem on the mortal plane? How into the afterlife and ask for a solution from the unexplainably ancient yet incompetent leader figures that should be doing their best to keep the living far away from the Shadowlands.

Once you complete the quest chain is there a new phase with Brill fully rebuilt and the plague gone, and is that what people are using for RP?
Or is the Cataclysm phase better (just without going down into UC itself)?

What!? I should’ve checked that out!

Brill halfway rebuilt, but otherwise yes, you’ve nailed it.

It’s still an ongoing effort, but the town is once more in use and the plague is gone. Just how many people haven’t actually done this questline?

A fair few it seems ^^

I did in on an alliance toon and never bothered to go back to see if the phasing was permanent. Thanks for the answer though!

I think it is fair to assume that the top levels of the Undercity (so basically Capital City’s grounds) are accessible by the Undead at the very least.
If it is going to be great for the living? No idea, but with Brill being rebuilt and the blight having been mostly eradicated by Green Marshmallow Man™, I say it is safe to assume that dwelling in the top parts of the Undercity is possible.

The Catacombs, or the actual Undercity however remains blocked off for obvious reasons. The plague eaters were only active on the surface, and I think that has a reason. We’ll see how it develops!

I’d honestly say to go ahead and RP your heart out. There is nobody stopping you ;D

TL;DR - Surface is safe for the Undead at least, underground isn’t.

Edit: Stay Puff

Been RPing in Brill each night since patch day. It’s been a lil quiet but there are a few faces that crop up every now and again.
As far as that RP has gone, it’s just been based on how the Tirisfal appears after the questline is over.
Brill is habitable but still being rebuilt, the skeletons are still an issue and there are Scarlet scouts not too far out to the West that incentivise a military presence.
The Ruins of Lordaeron are enterable, with the Forsaken NPCs moving in, so it’s fair to say that others can too. However since the RP population of new Tirisfal is fairly small, people only really go there so far if they need something.
The Undercity itself is blocked off. The elevators don’t open and the sewer cave has caved in, not to mention that it’s probably far worse of for Blight than the ruins were, so it’ll take far more time to get sorted.

Lordaeron itself, the city is clean. The Undercity elevators have been removed. Through a mixture of accidents and other measures I discovered that the sewers are fine but there is a certain point inside the Undercity itself where the plague actually functions as a mechanic as stated in the lore - the underground is still contaminated.

The surface however is fine and retains its BFA design which is an upgrade on the Cataclysm era one. NPCS are setting up shop there, the Apothecaries seem to be establishing a laboratory on the surface and even the flight master is up there too.

There’s other small changes around Tirisfal as well - there are more Scarlet Brotherhood npcs lurking about, having taken over Cold Hearth Manor and are patrolling around the lake near Brill. Brill itself is covered with building work, tents and reconstruction efforts. Zeppelin tower is ruined still.

Major issue however is that phases seem to overlap with one another which has prompted some people just vanishing from sight randomly. Also it’s not account wide progress so each character needs to do the quest line to get access to the new version of Tirisfal.
Oh and half of Lordamere Lake is gone, randomly.
