Undercutters ruin AH and economy

Thank you for your patronage. :money_mouth_face:

@Gnod That’s what I’m trying to say. Flipping is a normal part of the AH, but you can’t even do that anymore with certain items. Sure you’ll buy those items for a very cheap prize, but 2 mins after you’ve put em back up for the ‘‘relative’’ fair prize, you already see people undercutting you, and the wheel just goes on and on. Now you sit with a lot of materials, and to earn from them, you’ll have to sell them for higher amounts of what you bought them for, but the prices just go further and further down. I’m sitting with so many mats that are very valuable, but on the AH, they are worthless - would end up getting more from just vendoring the stuff.

Then obviously the items are not worth what you are trying to sell them for as the supply outstrips the demand.

You are asking for the entire server to work together to monopolize common goods where the supply is higher than demand, similar to how the diamond trade works.

It’s absurdly unrealistic.

You want what you’re putting up to sell. Putting it at the lowest price on there makes it sell. Its simple logic really… You don’t go to the overpriced store instead of the one two doors away thats selling what you want cheaper do you.

na the only problem here is you simply dont understand anything about economics.

ah is a simple marketpalce where two people who have the same imagination of a price meet.

How can it even be considered “ruined” just because someone sells cheaper than you?jesus. Do they not teach you atleast some basic economics in your country?

Under Cutters actually balance the AH economy - because what something is worth is not just what someone is prepared to sell it for - but also what someone is prepared to pay

I have no time for AH - rarely use it - I consider it a time sink

If you feel somebody is selling low - buy it and flip it - control the market

Otherwise just ignore it and move on

Some folk are exploiting weaknesses in the system to gain an advantage in XP and Mats / BoE gear for sure - but it really does not impact upon 99.9% of players

Just ignore it and enjoy the game

If you can’t ignore it spend more time with friends and family in the real world - you are allowing a game to ruin your life

They teach things in school that aren’t completely useless?

That argument about nobody getting their mats is bollocks. Nobody making large sums of money because everyone is selling mats cheaply on AH just drives up the buying power from non-trade profits like vendor grays and quest rewards. A marketplace where all the items sell for near-vendor price is an extremely healthy market where everyone gets the items they need.

undercutting occurs in any healthy economy
also, demand and offer make the prices most of the time

My rule is : Undercut for -1 copper only if i need to sell something now. No way i will undercut for golds, it’s totaly useless. And for high demand thing, if less than 10/15 guys undercut me, i often not refund and let my thing stay in AH. Why ? Because if people buy the 15 previous guy who undercut me, another guy will buy mine. No way i will waste my AH fee.

Thats how competitive economics work. The prices stabilize when demand = supply.

This is different when compared to a monopoly where one seller or a group of sellers control supply to reach a desired price and maximize their profit in a given period of time.

As others have said, undercutting is just basic economics.

You can play around it however, a friend of mine wanted bags, and bags are currently selling for below the cost of mats. So I sold all my rugged leather, runecloth, and skipped the rune thread, and then just outright bought the bags for them.

If enough people did this, the price of bags would rise, and the cost of mats would fall, making tailoring more profitable. But that requires people to make bags for profit, instead of the current situation, of making them to powerlevel tailoring!

This post is kinda silly?

So your saying others cannot sell, so you can sell?

I put up an item and it says someone is selling it selling for 15g

I will put my item in for 14G.99S.99C? Oh wait? I must not? cause you wanna sell? The AH is a game in itself.

I re-read OP post a few times, but thats what your saying right?

Learn to play the AH, and if your gonna get upset you post an item up and right and after someone undercuts you - thats completely fair. Your NOT the only one who wants to sell stuff.

It will get better around Phase 2.

By the way all items are SO cheap right now, like really cheap. You will cry when phase 3 drops and that some stuff you sold for silvers are worth so much then.
