Combat. Leveling. RPG. MMORPG stuff. Not racing gameplay. That’s a different game genre.
I don’t think the pet battle feature is a ‘WoW thing’ either. But it’s in the game and you can ignore it if you don’t like it. So as long as I can completely ignore that horrendous racing gameplay, it’s fine. I still don’t want them to waste their time and resources on it, but ‘oh well’.
Well then there we disagree then, I think driving vechiles is part of wow since vanil. So I see them as “wow stuff” can only drop the debate there as we wont see agreement if you think this is not part of wow.
In any case I view this car and goblin patch in bigger picture than just the racing minigame.
Me too and that’s why I’m so worried about it.
I don’t want stupid riding gameplay when I’m on a mount. So I want this DRIVE to stay in that one zone and for the devs to never do anything like that ever again. That’s what I want.
It should be optional and not forced. I dont think they are doing mount of it or are they, I hope not anyway. But when one ventures into goblin zone its part of the theme in there so I see it just part of it. But I wouldnt either wish that they make it part of next patch like they did dragonflying lol
Indeed. But I fear that it won’t be.
Because I’ve seen how Blizzard introduces new systems like that for the last 20 years.
You just have to look at Dragonriding for a recent example. They like forcing people into their new ‘fun’ features.
Yeah, I dont like dragonflying nor the dragons. I used my old mounts. Ill be happy to drift around the streets of undermined but I want to use my mounts outside of it.
Me too. But for a year and half we couldn’t. You HAD to use them and dragonriding if you wanted to be able to fly. That’s my point. Blizzard has a history of forcing people.
I really hope this time they won’t, but I’m worried.
And even in TWW we had to suffer on our first character to get access to the non vomit inducing flying. It’s taken even longer for all WQs to be updated to give a non dragonriding option.
I think DRIVE has the potential to be worse.
At least with Dragonriding, you could go up high and casually float along. Somewhat ‘relaxing’.
But with DRIVE you’re being thrown into this fast paced ADHD-fueled carnival ride type gameplay.
I know that thankfully you can ride your normal ground mounts there. That’s something.
I just hope these quests have an option like: Skip this part if it’s part of the actual campaign.
I am a person who plays “serious” racing games on the same wheel + pedals setup I use for Euro Truck sim, if preach’s 11.1 video is anything to go by, it’s more “burnout” than it is proper racing.
I’m pretty sure you can also just drive normally, and using other mounts is still an option
In any case, we all know that most the racing will be over in a day as everyone completes the 6 quests they’ll add, and goes back to dungeons, so traffic should be nice and light
I’ll be honest: It also kind of annoys me that they’re not letting us fly.
Because they KNOW way way way way way less people would use Blizzard’s ‘shiny new toy’ then. And they want those metrics of course.
Same as with plunder, even though technically it were not forced for us either we just missed the mogs then. I guess one could skip undermine too with the same thought what I did for plunder and decided skip it cause I hate battle royale. Atleast this zone will be inside the game with its quests and all so Ill be heading there to play wow.
Sadly it seems that despite being shown with Flying destroying an entire expac in WoD (And let’s face it, it did, they cut a raid tier to end the expac after it’s name became dirt, and jumped into “Legion will save us!” mode). They are still keen on no flying. I don’t understand why, given there’s been an engineering helicopter mount in the game since Cata, maybe earlier?
The saving grace for me personally is that I do like the Goblin aesthetic, so I’m hoping the city feels like a city when I’m riding around in it on my bear.
For the first couple of days, you’ll be able to play as a person discovering a land full of new tech with machines that move at a hectic pace around you and your bear in this land of metal.
Then after everyone has spent 30 minutes to an hour completing the mandatory 6 quests Blizzard introduces at launch (I know it’s not literally 6, but it’s usually far too few) you’ll be able to play as a hunter who discovers an abandoned city of ancient technology as no-one is there anymore, apart from to travel to the new raid.
And never mind the helicopters but look at the mechano ostriches, how is that even made, and where does its power come from. That things complexity goes far beyond my understanding. Its a fine example of gnomish ingenuity and we had it from vanil.
