I’ve been trying this fight on ?? difficulty and the design is just awful.
For a fight where positioning is so important, it’s inexplicable that his one-shot flamethrower doesn’t have clear boundaries like most dungeon and raid mechanics. The telegraphs from his adds linger even after the add is killed, adding to the visual clutter. Also, content that relies on having companions help you really needs better AI - it’s irritating to check logs and see that only 60% of Brann’s damage is actually on the Underpin rather than things like the bombs.
The mechanics themselves are also a slog. Having to kick three bombs per add and the oil slick he drops every 60 seconds just seem overkill.
I was looking on wowhead and, while I’m sure their stats are not representative of the playerbase as a whole, I’m not surprised that less than half of the accounts who got the season 1 achievement for Zekvir have the Underpin equivalent (7% and 18% respectively).

It wouldn’t be so bad if punting the bombs in the direction you want was made easier… i.e.- MAKE THE BLUE ARROW BIGGER!!!
And also make Brann’s potions more noticeable… almost impossible to see them with effects going on everywhere.

It is an entirely unfun encounter. Brann’s completely idiotic AI, the RNG regarding add and bomb spawns, the low radius for interaction with the bombs, the short directional arrows for said bombs. Zek’vir was tough, but it was an encounter where your personal skill mattered most. The Underpin is just irritating from start to finish
That being said, I found it the easiest when using a tank class with decent self healing, DK in my case. DK won’t get oneshot by anything, and if you do take damage you have the tools to regain it by yourself. I had Brann as DPS, as his impact on the overall success is the lowest. He just adds some DPS to make the fight quicker, but success doesn’t hinge on his potions being thrown out in time, or to wehre you can reach them.

the main issue when u kick bomb, sometimes it doesnt hit mob or just travells half way. the easiest way to get him is tank spec, i wish i new it before i did it in dps spec XD
I can’t kick bombs so I did it with a friend and have forgone the solo achie.
My best tip for this battle is to bind the interaction key to something simple, like f

Best tip i can give is new corner each time you kick bombs into adds, if they do not get destroyed leave them be move to new corner focus underpin and move on, if you at 20% prioritize underpin more and just hope for the best do not risk it and have all your defensive’s ready, do not die with defensive’s off cool down.
Also bind interact key, the fight is not possible without, if you did it without interact key you are very special assuming that is on tier ??
Took me like 20-30 attempts, honestly it is not that hard at all with a class / spec that can survive the hits from Underpin. Frustrating to some extent yes, but not hard at all. I just made sure to move the boss as far as possible clock-wise around the arena after each set of adds. This way all the adds spawned next to each other and were destroyed with 3 bombs consistently. I also ignored last two waves of adds and just burned the boss down by dodging all the stuff and moving him as far away from adds as possible. I also overgeared the encounter with like 680 ilvl.
At least the mount will still drop after season 2 has ended, so you can still farm it later.
I did it 3 and a half month ago…isnt it rly easy with all this gear and new enchants right now?
Not really as the hardest part of the encounter comes from adds placement and destroying them with bombs asap regardless your ilvl.

i went along the fence and the adds always spawned near me and i shot the bombs via click in the add in the middle of them
no big issue tbh
I cleared the fight solo today, but I honestly didn’t find it challenging so much as straight up annoying. Most of my frustration was just with how it’s designed.
Boss jumping on Brann to ruin the placement of adds. A few of the adds sometimes spawning all the way on the other side of the arena. The punishing telegraphing of the Flamethrower.
I really hope the Season 3 Delve boss is an improvement over this.

Shadow Priests get get a pass and are given the appearance at the door.
With current ilvl and dps you can safely ignore adds after the first two to three waves. Just did it this way by dodging everything from last two waves of adds and pullig the boss as much away as possible and burning him down.
So you only need to manage first 2-3 waves of adds and despite the randomness and Brann ruining things sometimes, it is highly possible in a few tries you manage to place the adds properly 2-3 times in a row.
Easier on a melee than a ranged that has to deal with a cast time having to constantly move.
Straight up annoying is essentially my complaint. As well as the ones you mentioned, there’s the arena not being flat meaning the footballs (bombs) don’t travel a consistent distance - sometimes they hit a minor terrain bump. And bombs sometimes spawning in the oil the boss drops.

I am currently at around 125 attempts with a combination of Boomie and Guardian… it’s not a fun encounter by any means - at least in my opinion.
I’ve grouped up with several players along the way - some with 680+ ilvl and possess far greater skills than I and still … the best attempt I’ve experienced is getting the boss to around 20% hp. I should add that I am fully hc geared - 673 ilvl with BIS trinkets as a tank and the other players I have grouped up with have a similar or better ilvl than I. A lot of these players have also known the tactics for the encounter quite comprehensively. My Brann is lvl 80 with the best curios but at this rate, it feels like I am fighting against a broken encounter.
On several attempts, from personal experience, the encounter has exceeded 8-9 minutes only for the boss to be at 50% without him self-healing. One of the main hurdles and frustrating aspects in both solo and group play is the shield - it is too unforgiving for me as a solo tank (especially with a range of swirlies on the floor) and as a group, if one player dies, it feels like it is scaled as such that it’s nigh on impossible to break without the additional player.
Just feels like there is way, way too much going on to be an enjoyable encounter. I killed Underpin ? literally in my first try. I know all of the tactics - positioning etc. but despite all of this, it feels like I’m having to rely way too much on luck for a successful attempt.
Funnily enough, I actually completed this on my 130th attempt in a group - at least I have title that I wanted. In retrospect, I don’t think anything that I posted above is exaggerated or unfounded. This encounter still remains the most poorly designed fight I’ve ever faced… the emotion is one of relief rather than happiness and while progressing the encounter was more frustration than enjoyment. At least it’s done now
I’ve just redone it on my character now, and it’s not that bad. The main tip I can give you is to ensure the boss is positioned near a side, but not directly at the side. If you do that, all the mobs will spawn on one side, and from there it’s simply batting the bombs to them, which should be very easy since they’re all grouped up together.
