Underpin Hardmode Is Unacceptable

Play a broken meta class or a tank then run around in circles and kick bombs to adds and then kill bubble on boss as tank- Sadge but truth.

Their care for the not 99% people ain’t there.

They should nerf the bubble on the boss its unfairly high. Also nerf the oil pile uptime and remove 1 or 2 adds and bombs.

Good for you i think. And I beat Underpin (??) in less than 10 attempts. So what? The fight is still easier in my opinion than Zekvir, where pretty much everything has you at 1 shot or very close to it all the time, plus there’s a slight elevation that sometimes blocks you mercilessly.

Tanks are playing a completely different fight to DPS on underpin.

That’s true. Generally, a lot of content that’s been released for solo play lately is usually easiest for tanks.

I am attempting this on a 671 Guardian druid with full Heroic gear and the dps check with the bubble is still too much for me to break through consistently.

I can stay alive just about - I am able to position the bombs and mobs occasionally (of course there still is some nonsense RNG at times with Brann etc.) but it feels like a very frustrating fight – even for a tank main.

I’m happy to throw in the towel on this one… :slight_smile:

I did it as guardian too since you need 2 bombs for the Adds not 3 which also bugged in a lot of trys.
I did it with boomkin pvp Gear,after not getting far i swapped few slots to have a bit more gs and enchants that are not int-based.
When i then tried him 2 times the fight was somehow scaled weird shield broke quite early his hp pool also progressed different. The entire fight was a “different” experience. After 2 close wipes it was back to normal shield barely broke with cds(some tries sleeper x bersi wasnt enough).
I also noticed that Brann here and there lost his buffs from curios and his mastery no idea if it affected anything tho. Better leave and re-enter if you notice that.

This fight was not very fun and if i’m not wrong it took me as long as Zek’vir.

I would clear my head and try again on a day where you don’t have any pressure / to do chorelist and no one bothering you. And maybe in fact experiment a bit with the gear :slight_smile:

Thank you for taking the time out to message with your tips - I finally got this down after 130 attempts :slight_smile: Really struggled to do it solo with all the chaos happening but managed to get it down with a group of 3. I got the title which I really wanted but would never, ever step foot back in there for the mount haha

While true, in this case DK is still far superior. I’ve tried it as Brewmaster on my main and it was just as infuriating. Got onto my Blood DK alt and finished him in 5 or 6 tries. The insane self healing allows for a much more relaxed error tolerance

I agree the fight might be frustrating sometimes and some RNG issues exist that invalidate many tries, like Underpin jumping on Brann and summoning adds around the whole arena.

Still it is pretty much more than doable with enough preparation and dedication.

This kind of entitlement, that something is unacceptable, if I cannot get it, is not healthy for the game. Prepare, execute your attempts with enough dedication and you will get it. Or you won’t, because you were not prepared, you are not entitled to have it, if it is beyond your capabilities.

I also will never have the dedication / skill to get a Gladiator mount, so I will never have it and am not posting on the forums that it is unacceptable.

I am trying really hard as Retribution at 682 item level, and I just cannot get through this. It is not a matter of skill. I have done 8-mask Horrific Visions, I have the “Mad” title, and I got the Mythic+ legend. This is beyond skill.

I just get hit too hard. I need to keep using potions, but half the time I cannot even see where they are on the ground. When the bomb phase comes, I cannot press the extra-action button because the boss is standing on top of me and I literally cannot see anything.

If I manage the bombs properly, there are still too many left over and they explode at bad timings. On top of that, he sometimes jumps onto Brann 40 meters away, spawns adds all over the place, and then instantly demands that I destroy the shield as soon as he lands—in the middle of a field of bombs.

This design feels like pure RNG. I know the strategy, I know how to play, I know how to nuke. I know how to play World of Warcraft. What I cannot do is beat randomness while juggling an extra-action button to trigger a clunky mechanic.

It is also extremely punishing as melee. I even tried it with my Beast Mastery hunter, who is only 647, and I made it much farther with her. It is just so much easier, even undergeared.

In a nutshell, bad boss design.

Struggled with my SP so hopped onto my DH who’s got an ilvl of 673 with 14% leech, and it was sooooo much easier.

Had Brann as a DPS while the Leech kept me alive.

There’s no timer, so I took my time taking out the bulk of the adds then moving him to a spot with no wreckage for the next batch while I nuked him down [I can remove the shield np without CDs].

If there’s a stray add about that spawned elsewhere I just ignored it.

The faster his health goes down the less adds he spawns and greases up the area. Used drums and unwavering potion once he hit 20%.

I am so confused by the fight, because it’s just FULL of RNG. Many people already pointed out many of the issues, mainly around bombs not hitting adds, getting stuck, adds surviving bombs when they shouldn’t, adds spawning far apart despite kiting the boss along the edge to a free space without burning piles to make sure they “can” spawn together…

My biggest issue so far, the Molten Cannon ability. Everything else I can get used to. But 4 runs in a row now, I get to about half health 5 minutes in, and I’m doing great. Full health, Brann is healing me.
Now, understand, the molten cannon ability is dangerous because it knocks back and CCs you, potentially getting you killed by a falling bomb or flamethrower. But the way the fight is designed, I often have to risk walking through the red lines or die to mechanics. And taking a ball to the face is preferable if you avoid other things or clutch kick a bomb away.

But oh, what’s that? Sometimes, just for no reason, the Flaming Cannon that says it deals 1m damage, and I’ve taken many to the face so I’m safe in the knowledge it won’t ever kill me if I’m at full health and with PW:S on… just deals 6.6M damage instead. Just instantly. I died 4 runs in a ROW now from this. Perfectly pacing myself, doing good time, and BOOM instadeath from across the arena from a ball I didn’t see coming, recap says it dealt more than my max health and then some.

How? Why?? Can they just… crit? For 6x damage??? Absolutely zero logic. At if I die to a flamethrower or a falling bomb swirly, I know I have myself to blame. But when I’m flanked by all other mechanics and my only option is to run through a red line, it makes no sense that it can randomly kill me.

Maybe try different curios on Bran? Robo dinos and bioprinter can give nice steady dmg on the boss while you are busy with bombs.
Plus the arena is big so dont focus on trying to spawn each adds group as close to previous one as possible. Dead cronies despawn pretty quickly, usually by the time he summons 3rd or 4th group 1st one remains should despawn. Also he doesnt spawn adds at the entrence to the arena so try to avoid fighting him up there.

I finally downed the Underpin on my guardian druid which was 666ilvl(lucky number I guess). I had Brann as dps with Mechasaurs and Bioprinter, at least Brann did the dps at decent number.
But yeah the fight is absolute pain but definitely a lot easier on a tank class. I also had Enable Interact Key set on my spacebar, made it so much easier to kick the bombs at the mobs, especially if Underpin was standing on top of them. My main, this one, just couldn’t do it. Was too much trying to stay alive, keep my pets alive and try and kick the bombs at the adds which were also at times just spawning either splitting, across the arena or just otherwise far far away.

I kinda gave up on this one, I didnt have the burst to take down the shield consistently as resto. Anyone done it as rsham and have any good tips for it? (And no, I dont want the «change spec» tip :blush:) Thank you :blush:

As long as you can take the shield down, best to just take your time. I completely ignored him everytime the adds spawned and sometimes I just ran around waiting for a good moment to go after them with everything going on.

underpin is easy…

get 660 ilvl and you can literally AFK and do passive damage to kill him

bro just play the game and increase your player power to overhelm him

focus on the bombs not the DPS until he has his shield phase
