Hi, so I’m not a pro pvp player or anything. But since I became more casual I’m investing more in the pvp side of the game instead of the pve.
That being said I’m a bit confused how the rating system works. Like I see people with the same number of games as me and with a lot less W/L rate and they are in the 1600s rating while I’m at 1200. How is that possible? Is there some secret I don’t know about?
the thing that matters is match-making rating (MMR). im guessing you’re playing shuffle as a healer.
in your shuffle, open up the scoreboard and look at the other healer’s MMR and yours. These are the two ratings that matter. If you’re playing at 1200 arena rating, but 2k MMR for example and win 6 rounds, you’re going to get a ton of arena rating from that. you will also gain MMR for this win. if you’re playing at 1300 MMR and 1200 arena rating, you’re going to get a lot, lot less rating for those 6 wins.
your MMR is virtually always higher than your arena rating, unless you’re intentionally losing games or something.
having higher MMR means you face better opponents and get more rating for those wins. Gladiators for example at 1,000 rating are not playing total new players - they’re playing at 2k+ MMR and playing against other gladiators. Their high MMR means that as they win arena games, they zoom through the lower arena ratings and surpass typical players in just 20-40 games / rounds.
