"Unexpected Error" message after my PC was rebooted at the shop

I took my Windows 10 for service at a local repair center two weeks ago, because of lag and other issues. A new hard drive was installed, most of the programs and applications removed in the process. I got it back yesterday, and reinstalled some of the programs myself, including Battle.net and WoW.

Although my PC is much faster now, I keep getting the following message every time I start: “The application encountered an unexpected error.” I updated all drivers, ran the “Scan and repair” button on my Retail WoW client, and this very PC met the same system requirement two weeks ago, but nothing helps.

I suspect some necessary programs might have been removed with the reboot. I tried installing GeForce Experience and DirectX, though the latter didn’t show up on my desktop, so I’m not sure.

Has this ever happened to you after a reboot at the shop? Do I have to register to GeForce Experience to play WoW? Which version of DirectX do I need? Is the new hard drive to blame (I don’t think it should be)? Is this error on Blizzard?

Once again: THIS PC MET THE SAME SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AS CURRENTLY, EVEN AFTER THE LATEST UPDATE.

I’d hate to buy a new computer after just fixing the current one, or quit WoW entirely mere days before the pre- patch, only because I took my fully functional PC to the shop for some necessary maintenance. I’d like to hear your thoughts.

You do not need to register with NVidia to play wow and you shouldn’t need to install direct X if windows is up to date.

The error your getting sounds like something you installed or unidtalled may have not done so correctly, or the shop messed something up when moving files across to the new drive.

Have you checked windows activity logs as it would likely be logged there and you can identify the program/process at fault?

What exactly have they done besides installing a new drive?

Why would you remove programs when you add more space?
It would make sense to remove unnecessary stuff from the autostart though.

What are your hardware specs?
Your in a tech sub-forum, this is the first thing you should post

Where can I find the activity log?

Apologies, i meant Event Viewer. If you press the windows key and type in Event Viewer it should just come up in search.

Under summary, there’s different categories (critical, error, warning etc). You’ll have to look through them but there should be something in those logs related to that application error, which should give you more information as to what the application is.

They installed a new power supply, though that shouldn’t be the problem.
