[Unholy] Necro and Venthyr MM+

Hi everyone,
Sorry for my English, it is not good with a translator ^^.
I love Unholy and i’am necro for the spell Abomination Limb.
I am now reluctant to change congregation before it is too late for Venthyr. (MM +).
Burst every minute which also scales with mastery, free tp and Swarming mist which scales with mastery too. And what interests me is the 1 min CD is good with our unholy pact and the mastery of “Soothing Shade” of the talents “Theotar” which doubles my mastery.
Looks great reading this.

What is your opinion ? Unholy venthyr dk to give me their opinions too?
5% DPS difference ok. But the synergy seems to be more efficient with our CDs and the mastery in prio stat.

Thanks for your help. Sorry for English again but French forums are dead xD.

Honestly play whatever you like. Because you never know what Blizz will buff or nerf next week. I took Vent just because I like red and I mostly play blood, I like how mist works with bonestorm.

first let me reassure you, none of the covenants is “bad” choice, all have ups and downs, dont look only at the cov abilites, check the soulbinds also (no pelagos i dont want you, you OP soulbind), only thing that might change is the way u play, ie, order you burst the pack

having said that, dont look at your choice from a dmg perspective but from a utility one.

venthyr, u will swarm while seting up the wounds on targets while using the extra rp to dump on pestilence and only after will u go to scourge strike window on DnD

for necrolord, u will limb right after u set up the wounds and before droping DnD, limb will give u RC every 4 sec which is alot of runes back that will go into SS spam afterwards.
added bonus, it might also help the tank get death balls rolling pulling the anoying casters

another perfectly good reason to choose, if you got a team who do m+ with and they lack necro of venthyr, we can fill in that spot as both give strong advantages on their respective dungs

Necrolord is the best for UH in both PvP and PvE.

I know that the 2 congregations are good.
But I have the impression that in pure DPS Venthyr is doing better because of “Soothing Shade” of the talents “Theotar”. I have about 500-600 mastery with this talent, I will be at 1k + mastery which is huge on a pack.
Necrolord is cool but I have the impression that Ventyr can dps with higher numbers and in big mm +, the burst is available every minute for the next pack mobs with the mastery while with necro, we wait another 1 min.

If I change congregation, do I have the new spells right away for test or do I have to wait 1 week ?

i changed once, didnt cost me anything as the new one will initiate u normaly.

however, rejoining back (to old one) is a long a hard and boring process so be careful

The 2 covenants dps difference is like 1% so choose what you like more. The necros are the best now in dps, the venthyr the best in versatility(and in visuals too just look at those sexy zweihanders alone makes venthyr bis for me).

Ahah, it’s true that visual level, AMAZING: D

not even close. flap-limb might be uber in pvp but its nowhere close to the mist from venthyrs in pve environment.

Necrolord is actually better. There are other guides online that suggest the same.

Bicep also mentions in his video that the single target diference between the covenants is meaningless ( 0.5% diference) and u can choose whatever (same as preach) and necrolord takes the lead because of slighlty better scaling in aoe and “princess” emini soulbind.

if in pre-mythic HC week necrolord gets nerfed by 1% then it becames the 3rd best right near Fae and venthyr/kyrian take the lead. thats how close they are.

unlike some DPS specs where they are forced into a covenant by huge margins, unholy DKs are not

Exactly. I suggest Necrolords because it is also BiS in PvP, if OP is interested in that.

i stoped following pvp until season 1 actualy hits and more balances happen

You need to not only look at the ability.
For example, your soulbind of choice gives you straight up 3% more strength.
Or you can select the Soulbind that gives you 5% strength for 20sec i think, and 2% extra for each ally in range (up to 4) when you use your covenant ability, this is a lot of primary stat and should also enter your calculations.

Edit:
Unless you’re going for really high ranks, the difference is minimal.
