The Jailer event just proved that in WoW no lore is sacred, nothing matters and the writers team will not give a rats tail about what came before. Sure, DF might be a new beginning, but be it in 5 or 10 years, they will surely spit at anything you loved or any connections you had to what DF built up.
The Jailor 2.0 will have been the mastermind behind everything, nothing anyone did mattered as it was all part of this entity’s master 5D plan.
Current WoW, you are best buddy and soulbound with the arbiter of death (let us ignore that noone seems bothered that there is an actual afterlife, and you can travel in and out of there at will). You have defeated not a small cosmic entity - you defeated the Arbiter of Death at its most powerful. How come we just don’t just tear these new protochickens souls out (the Gavel could do so) and just roast them over a fire is something we never will know.
Well, it can all be explained when the Jailer 2.0 - A lightforged cosmic construct of the void that is corrupted by life goes “Haha! You thought anything anyone ever did wasn’t part of MY plan? Haha! I tricked the Jailer to open the road for my plans!”
It is just a matter of time. So nothing matters. What little ‘rules’ of the setting has already frayed to the thinnest of threads. Join me in apathy and just enjoy the content with no emotional attachments at all. The lights sure are pretty while they move and shine.
TL:DR - Lightforged Mecha-Gnome Demon Hunters when? Think of how cool they would look… so shiny and spinny, look at the last threads snap.
Also, don’t forget they rewrote entire Shadowlands like few months before release, if not less. I hope Blizzard only lost narrative + the working conditions definitely haven’t helped either. What you have described there is nothing more than a way how to lose entire playerbase. Blizzard is not in a position to allowed that at the moment.
I’m not sure many people care about the lore in DF tbh, it isn’t even memorable or interesting. In fact I’ve read instructions on how to make an omelette that have more depth and intrigue than the DF lore
Idk about you, but I find it far better than anything from SL. Memorable? Actually I do remember some nice moments. I’m not saying it is best or something, but it is fine. I guess the SL distaste is too great and I feel it myself. If they keep delivering more Dragonflights like that, it can be somewhat quenched I believe. If they don’t the game is dead, ppl will leave and nobody new will stay. Those few who play it as PVE counter strike will not be enough.
Yea, just keep it simple. No need to pull GoT story arcs. Their writing strenght is in world building, not character story.
Anything after SL would seem good in comparison tbf. But DF isn’t that good when looked at objectively, it’s just sterile which I suppose is better than diseased like SL was.
And sterile is boring imo, even the SL big bad is more memorable due to his huge nipples, but DF, I can’t remember a single thing? Oh, all the dragons are gay for some reason…maybe it’s the current year thing I guess
Neither, but the thing is you can’t compare drama of multiple series to an MMO. WoW is jut not the game for character saga.
I can understand ppl thinking it’s boring, I mean, the Incarnates appeard out of nowhere, but we know their motivation and goals, something we never had in SL, which allows the writers focus more on the actual story. In SL they kept fleshing out Jailer and Sylvanas by terrible cliffhangers and we got nothing else. In DF we are geting more as villains are kept simple. So instead of fleshing them out over and over, we get to see struggles of each dragonflight - Black trying to overcome their twisted past, Blue trying to reunite again, Green geting to shape again after loss of Ysera, Bronze deailing with Infinite again and also Dracthyr who are trying to find their place in the world. The xpac still have a lot of time to tell more, but keeping it simple is good choice for WoW.
I remember him only becouse he was bald and bald ppl are evil We remember him becouse we just hate him, thats not a good thing to hate a character due to bad writing. Memorable? Yes, but this was it just doesn’t count.
Hopefuly we get there when more stories progress, but the new blue dragonflight questline was great and I definitely shed a tear. More things like that please.
It’s the writing formula which makes it better in general.
